Tasty Tuesday- Party Fare

Birthday Season is over and done with, but I wanted to share with you a couple of  little nibbles and drinks we used to make the celebrations more FuN!

Rainbow Ice
I made rainbow ice cubes for the Big Boy’s party to tie in with the Rainbow Cake .

Choose a few flavours of Kool aid and prepare each according to directions on package. I only used half of the sugar suggested though, figuring the drinks would have enough sugar in them to compensate.
Freeze in ice cube trays.
I saved each flavour in it’s own Ziploc bag in the freezer.
To prepare Rainbow Drinks, pop one or a few of each colour in a clear glass (we used clear plastic ones for the party) and pour a clear or light coloured beverage over top (gingerale, mountain dew, water)
As the cubes melt they add a new flavour and colour to the glass

This went over well with our mostly boy crowd, the kids even started using it in dark coloured soda.
I used orange, red and blue this time around. Super easy and inexpensive for a fun treat!

Fruit Skewers

I made these for Little Buddy’s party which had a larger gathering. I had always intended to give these a try and found these fun little party skewers while perusing the dollar store. I couldn’t tell by the packaging what they were exactly, but they turned out to be just what I was looking for. A short wooden skewer with a fun sparkly end to do fruit kabobs with.
I used strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and grapes. If I had a melon baller, it would have been fun to add some bright melon pieces to the mix.
I got a lot of compliments on these and will definitely make them again.
