It’s always really exciting for my family to receive a package in the mail from Kellogg’s, as part of the Kelloggers Network we get spoiled with goodies that are new on the shelf to taste test at home.
Here’s a look at our latest items to stock the snack drawer-
So much goodness!
Mini-Wheats Centres Raspberry Cereal, All-Bran Cranberries and Clusters, Nutri-Grain Soft Bakes, Special K Granola Bars, and a couple new flavours of Special K Cracker Chips.
My boys are big muffin and banana bread fans, so naturally they fell in love with soft bakes which came in two favourite flavours- Blueberry Muffin and Banana Bread. These made for great snacks on the go!
But for me? well, Mama took one look at those delicious Special K Granola Bars and promptly hid them in the back of the cupboard! They are far to yummy to share with the kids! They come in 2 awesome flavours Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut Butter! Hello!!! Plus, they are just 110 calories per bar.
Breakfast for Better Days
Some mornings around here can be really hectic, my middle boy hates school, even in Junior Kindergarten and we have lots of mornings with tears. My oldest loves school but there are days, like today, where he is just looking for a break. After an attempt to ‘play sick’ he was told to get upstairs and get dressed, then he declared he wanted me to pick out his clothes. Classic stalling, the kid is almost 7, he always picks out his own clothes. He cried, he pouted, he whined. I gave him at least a dozen warnings that he was going to miss breakfast if he didn’t get down to the kitchen and he came thisclose to finding out what it feels like to go to school hungry. Truth is, I never want my child to feel hungry and I had my fingers crossed he would come around and get his breakfast, it was a nice to sight to see him come down dressed and eat.
But consider this:
- * Around the world, hunger affects 1 out of every 8 people.
- * In Canada alone, 1 in 7 children live in poverty and are at risk of going to school on an empty stomach.
Kellogg’s has launched Breakfasts for Better Days, a new philanthropic initiative from Kellogg and their company foundation, the Kellogg’s Corporate Citizenship Fund. This global initiative was inspired by founder, W.K. Kellogg, and his legacy for giving that Kellogg’s has become known for.
Through Breakfasts for Better Days, we will:
- * Provide 1 billion servings of cereal and snacks to children and families by the end of 2016. Half of these servings will be breakfasts to help children start their day right.
- * Support new and existing breakfast club programs across Canada, continue our long-standing support of food banks through product and financial donations, and advocate for the important role breakfast plays in the diet.
