How to Make Taco Dip

In a medium bowl, beat 1 package of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of sour cream and 3/4 of mayonnaise together until smooth.

Spread a dish of your choice to form the base of the dip. I like to use a glass pie plate.

Pop dish into the refrigerator for about an hour or until the meat mixture is prepared to go on top.

In a large frying pan, brown beef; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Cool completely, I often pop this into the freezer for a few minutes if I am in a hurry to speed things up.

Okay time to assemble, spread the beef over the cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with chopped lettuce, shredded cheese, tomatoes and anything else you might like on your tacos! Serve with your favourite tortilla chips and enjoy!

    🙂

  2. Oh my goodness that looks yummy! I saw the picture and before I read anything started planning when I can make it. Thanks for sharing.

  3. ohhh yummy! Now you are making me hungry!

  6. Oh my! Now, I am hungry….and salivating. I will be making this recipe for sure.

  7. This is now on my Must Make list! It looks delicious! I have a turkey taco dip that I’m quite fond of but it doesn’t have cream cheese in it like yours…which sounds so delicious!

  8. This is the exact way I make mine, but instead of regular cream cheese I use herb & garlic cream cheese, everyone always wants me to make this, it is one of my popular dips

  9. does the mayo make the cream cheese and sour cream base taste better?

    • momvstheboys says

It’s unusual to see Mayo in a dip alongside the others, but I really like the three together and it turns out a little softer and creamier. You could definitely just use the cream cheese and sour cream if you want to though.

  10. Oh my! This looks really great. Pinning to try at our next family gt together.

  11. Yum! Love taco dips!

  12. This looks absolutely delicious — I think I’ll add some pickled jalepenos to my version (I like it hot and spicy!). Great for this hot summer weather. Thanks for sharing!

  13. do think you could put this on a pizza crust ? and then add topping.

    • momvstheboys says

I definitely think that’s doable with the meat and veggies. I would cook the pizza dough for a few minutes first, top, then return to heat through instead of putting the mixture right ont top of the fresh dough.

  14. I need an excuse to make this dish.

  15. This would be great for a party! YUM!

This sounds like the type of dip that everyone loves and is not long being cleaned up because it is so delicious. Thank you so much for this recipe. I have saved it and intend to use it some time in the future as a light supper dish along with a dessert.

  20. Perfect summer entertaining dish; can’t wait for summer!

  21. Cynthia Tyler says

Can I make this 2 days in advance??
Should the meat be hot when you serve it??

    • momvstheboys says

You want the meat to be cooled so yes you can make this in advanced but I would make the cream cheese base layer and the meat mixture but keep them separate until serving day. Then I would just spread the meat and the toppings on top of the base layer and you’ll be ready to go. Hope that helps!
