Sunbeam Supports with Warmth program is helping Canadian Cancer Patients

Each year, thousands of Canadians affected by cancer rely on patient transportation programs to get to and from life-saving treatment. This can be one of the most challenging tasks they face, especially if treatment is far from home.

Sunbeam is proud to launch Supports with Warmth, an awareness and fundraising campaign in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s patient transportation programs, like Wheels of Hope in Ontario. These programs strive to provide safe and reliable transportation for those receiving active treatment from approved cancer treatment facilities.

At the heart of this campaign is the real-life story of Kelly Tugnett, a single mother whose son Jaxson, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at six months old. With no driver’s license, getting Jaxson to treatment was nearly impossible for Kelly until volunteer drivers like Florence Devitt lent their time and vehicles to help get Jaxson to treatment.

Take a look at this short video sharing their story:

As a mom, this really pulls at my heart strings. I can’t imagine being in that situation and I’m so glad there are amazing people like Florence who give up their time to help. I love hearing about companies who give back, and Sunbeam is doing wonderful things with their Supports with Warmth program!

Through Supports with Warmth, Sunbeam is donating 75,000 kilometres to the Wheels of Hope transportation program. Recognizing that feeling cold or chilled may be a side effect of cancer and its treatment, Sunbeam is also donating warmth with 500 Sunbeam Heated Throws to distribute to cancer patients in Ontario.

Knowing first hand how warm and cozy these microplush blankets are, I know they will be much appreciated by the recipients!

The Sunbeam Cuddle Up Heated Throw, is a perfect gift for someone you love this Christmas!

They come in 22 assorted patterns and colours including 10 official NHL teams for your hockey fans! Choose from 4 fleece or 18 microplush blankets. I have to go ahead and recommend the microplush, it’s so soft that curling up in this cuddly throw is heaven on a cold day like today! Working at my desk all day lends itself to a cold body, especially my hands and feet. The blanket is large enough at 50″x60″ to cover my entire body and even has a convenient pocket to tuck my phone or remote into.

The Sunbeam heated throw has three heat options and a built in 3 hour automated off function.

Best part? The Cuddle Up Throw is machine washable and dryer safe!! We’ve never had a heated blanket that can do that!

The Sunbeam Cuddle Up Throw is available from www.sunbeam.ca or look for them at The Bay, Home Oufitters, Walmart, Sears, and Home Hardware this holiday season. Give the gift of warmth!

The products mentioned above were provided free of charge. Regardless, I was not obligated to feature this item and all opinions expressed belong to Mom vs. the Boys and are not influenced in any way.

my heart aches for parents like this, it’s so hard to watch our kids suffer, to have that added stress on top of it must be horrible! Thank goodness for programs like this!

  5. What a great initiative. I know way too many people who have been diagnosed with cancer including an 8 year old girl who has now been in remission for about 3 years.

I am sure the cancer patients receiving these warm blankets will really appreciate it. They look so comfy and cozy.

  6. As soon as the snow hits I break out my heated blanket for my bed. It has duel controls so that I can have mine set to high and DH side is off 🙂

I’ve always wanted a heated blanket. If they have this campaign again next year I will definitely buy one.
