Crispy Samosa Patties

 


Samosas are one of my very favourite appetizers. Crispy on the outside, full of flavour on the inside, if you love Indian food, chances are you’re in love with samosas as well.

Recently, we tried a fun little twist on the classic samosa, and turned that delicious filling into little Samosa patties!

Crispy Samosa Patties

 

Ingredients

3 potatoes, peeled and chopped into small cubes
1 small onion, diced
1 tbsp ginger, grated
1 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp Patak’s Mild Curry Paste
1 cup frozen peas (or peas and carrots work well too)
1/4 Cup oil

Directions

Place diced potatoes in boiling pot of water and cook until tender. Once cooked, strain water and set aside.

Saute onion, garlic and ginger until cooked/onions are translucent. Add curry paste to pan; cook for 2 minutes. Add cooked potatoes and frozen peas to the pan-  cover mixture and let cook for 5-10 minutes until peas/carrots are thawed and hot. Let cool slightly so you can manipulate mixture with your hands.

Form the potato mixture into small patties and dredge them in the flour. Heat the oil until sizzling, place a few patties in the pan. Cook until golden brown, about three minutes on each side.

Once they are cooked, place them on the paper towel lined plate to drain. Repeat with remaining patties. Serve warm.

All the wonderful flavours of a classic Indian samosa, but in a crispy patty form! It's a perfect little side dish or appetizer.

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 16 minutes
Total Time 31 minutes

  7. I had samosas once and I thought I was going to die, so spicy, but these ones don’t seem like they are hot since the recipe calls for mild, I might just give these a try!!

      you can easily adjust the spice with these, I recommend starting with just 1 tbsp of the curry paste if you are new to curry, it will be very mild and you can work your way up!

    Can these be made the day before?

    • You could probably do this but they wouldn’t be crispy the next day after being in the fridge. I bet they still taste great but they would be soft.

  16. Can these be cooked in a air fryer?

      I’ve never used an air fryer but it definitely sounds possible. Let me know how it turns out if you try it!
