Boys and Guns: Crossing the Line

I was finishing up some work on my computer one day last week, knowing that it would be soon time to pick up the boys from the bus stop, when the phone rang. I looked at the number on the handset and recognized it right away as the phone number for the boys school. My stomach clenched a little like it always does when the school makes an unexpected call and I answered with some trepidation. The teacher reassured me immediately that the boys were fine, but I could tell from the tone of her voice, … [Read more...]

Virtual Play Date ~ River Fun

Last Summer I was so good at sharing with you all our weekend adventures through a series of Virtual Playdates. This Summer, I admit, I dropped the ball! But right before Summer ended we took the boys back to one of favourite river spots on a hot day and my camera was in tow. The place was packed, as the whole town it seemed had arrived to splash and play on the last weekend of Summer!  The water in this area is only ankle to knee deep in most areas. You might be wondering why my oldest son … [Read more...]

Missing You

I walked home from the bus stop today alone. There were no chubby fingers to hold my hand. No sparkling eyes staring up at me. No chit chat in my ears. It was Quiet. The silence was deafening. My heart was heavy, and I started to get that panicky feeling, like when I've left something behind. Like I was missing something. But what I was missing, Was You. Have a great first year in school Little Buddy! The world is waiting for you....   … [Read more...]

Mommy’s So Pretty

All of my boys are quick with kind words, but maybe none more than my Little Buddy. He started telling me I was 'so pretty' at a young age and never looked back, saying it so many times in fact that it grew into a song! And with him only being 3 and all, he didn't have a huge play list of songs running through his head and this one really stuck. He would sing it almost every day at random times. At the breakfast table, in the van, playing in the sandbox....it quickly became my favourite song … [Read more...]

Be as Unique as you are! #KinderMom

My oldest son is in grade one this year and has his first real  'Best Friend'. It started about half way through the year, that we would hear his name pop up at dinner conversations or before bed chit chat, and soon it became part of our every conversation. Seriously, I felt like I had a fourth son! We got to know this boy pretty well, though we'd never met him.  "I like playing in the rain, Friend likes playing in the rain too" "Friends dad has an earring in his MOUTH!" "Friends … [Read more...]

When Mom Gets Sick

Every Friday my son has a spelling test, and on the back of the paper he always draws a little picture of the two of us. It's really cute and something I look forward to each week. Last week, he came home with this. Can you tell Mommy has been sleeping a lot lately? This is me in bed and him checking in on me with  a big frown on both of our faces, because we are so sad that I am sick. Cute right? I've been down and out with pneumonia for the last couple of weeks. It's been horrible! I've … [Read more...]
