Chicken Soup for the Soul: Grieving and Recovery is a heartfelt collection of stories about remembering those who have passed before us and a special way of honouring our loved ones.
For me this edition of Chicken Soup was hard to swallow in it’s entirety. Even though many of the stories are uplifting in the end, with a theme such as this one, the stories are sad and pull on the heart strings just a little too hard for me. But that is the beauty of Chicken Soup for the Soul books, you can choose a few to read and then it’s okay to put the book back on the shelf until the next time.
This book struck a chord with me because it arrived right at the first anniversary of my Mother in Law’s death and one of the first stories I read was about a lady who had her mothers fur coat made into teddy bears. This is exactly what my Father in Law did and soon my boys will each have a teddy bear made from their Grandma’s mink coat. How precious. The book is filled with great stories of remembering loved ones.
