I thought I would write a little update for the 4 of you who came by to read my post about our feathered friends who took squatters rights in our boys’ climber.
I did intend to get out there and remove the nest yet again, but with a couple of rainy days in a row, I’m afraid they went ahead and moved themselves right in. They got so comfy in fact that Mama Robin started laying eggs!
Oh boy! Now what to do!
I would feel pretty bad about evicting the family with babies on the way, but how long can I really keep my 4, 2 and 1 year old out of their fort?
Mama keeps watch at her window and stares at me in mine. I kind of like her company. I keep an eye on her all day. Wednesday she had one tiny blue egg in there. Yesterday a second egg appeared. I wonder how many are coming, How long until they hatch, How long until they fly away out of there?
Apparently I have some Robin research to do.
It really is fun watching the Mama and Daddy birds do their thing. Daddy watching from the trees, taking turns peeking at the nest. He almost never sits on it, he stands beside it or in the window when Mom is off searching for food. It’s like he has no idea what to do with these things, kinda like human Daddies! lol
