I love a good Mompreneur story! Nothing is more inspiring to me than hearing about women getting creative and making good things happen. This holds true for the Kicky Pants owner and CEO Erin Cloke. Erin started the company while on bed rest with her second son (love a fellow mama of boys!) and today Kicky Pants is doing so well that her husband has quit his job to join her at the business! Remember that baby in Erin’s tummy? He earned himself the nickname Kicky Pants and the fabulous clothing line found it’s name!
What’s Different About Kicky Pants?
Kicky Pants has a line of Bamboo Basics. If you aren’t familiar with the soft and luxurious feel of bamboo, I advise you to get acquainted! This was our introduction to the fabric and it was love at first feel! It’s just so amazingly soft and comfy! I can’t wait to get myself some bamboo clothes in the future. My kids are officially spoiled!
Why Bamboo?
Bamboo is an eco-friendly sustainable crop that grows wild without the aid of fertilizers or pesticides. Bamboo fabric is naturally antibacterial, antifungal and antistatic. Bamboo absorbs water 3-4 times better than cotton, keeping skin comfortable, rather than sticky, in summer weather. And, Bamboo stays 2-3 degrees cooler in hot weather, and warmer in cold.
Kicky Pants sent us a few tees and tanks for my boys to try out. For us, the line seemed to fit a little on the small side. The prints are fresh and fun! The brightness of of the green colour above threw me off at first but I was really surprised at how great it looked on the boys. I adore the brown and blue shark tees and so do the boys, these are family favourite! The shirts are made with 95% Bamboo and 5% Lycra so they have a nice bit of stretch to them.
The downside to the bamboo tees is that it is recommended to hand wash them (ack! I know! ) I put all of them in the washing machine because with three boys I have no time for that and they came out fine. I did have problems with the dryer though. The label states that the best option is to lie the shirts flat to dry but that it was also okay to use the dryer on a low setting. On our shark shirt we had one of the sharks fold over and adhere to itself from the heat. When I pulled it apart it ruined the shirt a little.
Nevertheless, we are now big Kicky Pants fans and look forward to seeing more of them in the future!
