`Remember when we were kids and we actually had to make our Halloween costumes? well, okay, Mom had to make them! lol I really miss those creative concoctions but as a mom of three, I’m also really glad I can just go buy one from a store! I haven’t learned to sew yet! shhhhh…..
It really was an exciting tradition though, thinking weeks before Halloween about what we wanted to be, watching mom come up with something fun to wear, giggling with friends as we came up with group costumes and then on Halloween night the fun would begin!
At our house it was always tradition to have a pot of chili in the crock pot simmering so that whoever was ready to eat could do that while the whole house was scrambling to get dressed and answer the door to early trick or treaters at the same time. It was also warm and filling for a cold night out in the dark ahead.
Now that I am a parent, one of our favourite traditions is going to the pumpkin patch. We’ve been taking the boys since my oldest was small and it’s such a fun family activity! Tractor rides, huge pumpkins, picking our own out and watching the pumpkin cannons shoot- it’s a great time every year!
Nothing is more exciting than Halloween night itself though, the boys are still young and figuring it out more and more each year! We always trick or treat with some friends!
