A man once told me that his father measured his success by his children’s accomplishments and that as long as he was able to give them more than he had, he felt he had succeeded. Of course, when he said ‘more’, he wasn’t talking about fancy toys and trendy clothes. He was talking about more out of life. More opportunity, more chances to grow, more to experience. This has always stayed with me and now that I have my own children, I feel the same way. I wish for them to experience everything amazing life has to offer. To seize every opportunity to learn and grow.
So I am grateful for opportunities like our recent evening out to see Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon. This is an exciting, age appropriate experience to introduce the boys to, to stretch their imagines and to simply have some fun!
About the Show:
You only get to make a first impression once! Preparing for his stage debut, Toopy has to not only find the perfect song to sing, but he also has to find the perfect place to perform it!
As Toopy and his best friend Binoo embark on their most important musical quest ever, they encounter a Blue Cat Blues Band, a Loud Mouth Crooner Fish, some Rock n’ Roll Sheep, a pair of Love Struck Dragons and many other zany characters along the way.
Entertaining and whimsical, Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon is a fairy-tale for our times; it incorporates music, theatre, dance, puppetry and innovative multimedia technology to weave a story that will tickle the imagination of the entire family!
A couple months back we went to see Max & Ruby Live. It was my 3 year old’s first time in a theatre and he was out of his comfort zone. He wanted to go home and when the lights went low and the music started, he covered his ears and wailed! lol Don’t worry, he got over it and ended up enjoying the show but watched the whole thing from our laps with a skeptical look on his face. Fast forward to Toopy & Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon and it was a whole different story. He still looked grumpy and scared before it started but as soon as the lights dimmed and the music played, his whole face lit up with joy! It warmed our hearts to see him up dancing and smiling throughout the show, my husband and I exchanged more than a couple looks from the heart as we watched our boys sharing the moment together.
In a world where our kids are masters of the remote and know more about electronics than I do, going to a live performance is really special. No, I was not spending my weekends at the local theatre when I was 3, so I feel like I am succeeding when I give my boys an expanded view of the world. Something a little ‘more’. You never know what is going to light a spark inside your little one and inspire them to dream!
I was provided tickets to see the above show for reviewing purposes only, no compensation was given and all opinions expressed are my own.
