Hasbro has taken the old classic Battleship game to a whole new level and it’s on store shelves just in time for the holiday season! Forget what you know about the original Battleship because the new version Battleship Live barely resembles the old favourite. No more tiny pegs and small game boards, the bigger and better 2012 edition has an electronic talking tower that calls the plays and controls the game.
This new electronic game is a whole new experience. When we first set up the board we naturally looked for an instruction sheet on how to play, not necessary, the tower walks you through the game from the first set up to the last ship sunk. Your mission is still to protect your fleet from enemy attacks but there are new twists and turns including my favourite- the spy plane! You can launch a spy plane over your opponents waters to gather clues on where to strike next!
The only thing I liked better about the original game was that the ships took up a number of spaces on the board and it took a bit of guessing and a number of turns to figure out where a ship was and which direction the ship was facing. With this new version the ships only take one space on the board and even though you can movie them on your next round and they still need to be hit a certain number of times, if your opponent has 3-4 turns they can wipe your whole ship out in one play before you get a chance to make a move.
Do you ever wonder if there is a cheater in your game group?? lol My brother was the worst cheater growing up, this game would stop him in his tracks. The tower really is all-knowing and if you move a game piece out of turn or try to move more than one space, it will call you on it! lol
Battleship Live is a perfect gift for the game lover on your Christmas list!
