We all know and love the Toronto Zoo for a summertime day of fun, but did you know that you can visit the zoo all year round???
It’s true!
The Toronto Zoo is open 364 days of the year!
The only day you can’t visit your favourite animals is on Christmas day because well, even the animals celebrate that day with their families! lol
This year my family and I rang in the New Year at a celebration right at the zoo!
It was a fun family friendly event that featured performances by Majinx the Magician, The WotWots and ABBAMANIA! For those brave enough, which ended up just being Mommy and the Baby, was a meet and greet with none other than Shrek himself!!! It was so much fun! He was larger than life and gave us a good high five while we had some memorable pictures taken with him, Donkey wasn’t too far off either!
It was a fabulous way to welcome in 2012 as a family, we were able to see all kinds of animals including the amazing polar bears and ended the night with a kids New Year’s Eve countdown at 8pm. If you get a chance next year, consider this event as part of your plans!
The rest of the Winter you can visit some amazing animals and still keep warm inside the zoo pavilions.
The Africa Rainforest – you’ll find Ring Tailed Lemurs, Straw Coloured Fruit Bats, West African Dwarf Crocodile, Western Lowland Gorilla and more!
The Americas– is home to snakes, spiders, turtles, lizards, frogs, birds and more!
Australasia Pavilion– boasts the Komodo Dragon, Kookaburra, Short-beaked Echidna, loads of fish and the mesmerizing Moon Jellyfish!
Indomalaya– look for Sumatran Orangutans, Tri-colour Shark, Malaysian Painted Turtle, Sumatran Tiger and more.
The grandkids visited a couple of weeks ago and loved it, last weekend they went to Ripleys aquarium
that’s a really fun spot too!
