More Control of the Gaming Controllers with Bigben Interactive

Parent’s are you concerned over the amount of time your kids are spending playing video games? It can be really hard to enforce limits when we know the long drawn out arguments will ensue and we don’t have time to start a fight. At the same time, kids need limits and now there’s a product to help with that.

Bigben Interactive has created Parental Controls Kits for both the Play Station 3 and the Nintendo 3DS

Here’s a little about both

Nintendo 3DS Control-

The 3DS Parental Control allows the adult to determine a maximum gaming time per day or per gaming session while also assuring games are played at a safe viewing distance. It detects the space between the screen and the child’s eyes, assuring a safe 3D gaming distance is met. It will emit a loud signal if the player is less than 9 inches viewing distance away from the game system screen.

Through a detachable key, adults can set the gameplay time to 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes for a session and between 1 and 4 hours for a day. The handheld system, which also doubles as a sturdy case, gives a warning signal five minutes prior to shutdown so that the child can save the game. When the time is up, it will automatically quit the game.

PlayStation3 Parental Control-

The classic wireless controller  that integrates all the functions of a standard PS3 controller but has the added ability to digitally set the gaming time on an LCD screen, using a customer created password.

Game sessions can last as little as 15 minutes or up to 3 hours. A few minutes before time is up, the controller gives two warning signals, prompting the player to save the game progress. At the end of the allotted time, the joystick
switches off and unlocks with the password.

Our family tested out the PlayStation3 Parental Controller from Bigben Interactive. It closely resembles the regular PS3 controller only there is a small LCD panel on the front. It was quick and easy to set up, operates on two AA batteries that were included and has full password protection for all settings. My husband commented that the controller operates very similar to the regular gaming controller (including vibrations) but not 100% as smooth. The buttons on the front of this controller are a little longer, meaning you can’t rapid fire the trigger quite as quickly. What he did really like (aside from the play limiting) was that it can be used as a second or third controller. So if you are thinking of picking up another controller anyway, this might be a good option as it does double duty as a controller and you can monitor your child’s playing habits.

With the Parental Control Kit for Nintendo 3DS™ by Bigben Interactive, there are no more arguments, only safe video game limits – Both units retail for $39.99

But you can win yours right here! I have one Bigben Interactive Parental Controller to giveaway in either a PS3 or 3DS format!

Woah. I’m not sure if this is a fantastic product or a dangerous one! LOL. Personally, I would hate being in a game I couldn’t instantly save and have my system shutdown on me! I could see this getting controllers/DS’s thrown across the room. But how great would be it to get them off these darned things! LOL. Cool!
