Scholastic Holiday Books!

My boys get a few new books every year for Christmas, we love reading together before bed and nap times and it’s even more special during the holidays. We brought out all of our Christmas decorations this past weekend and in amongst them was our collection of holiday books! Those books had the boys even more excited than all the other glittering baubles and beads in box! They ran upstairs to their bedroom, spread them all out on the floor and began a reading marathon! It was amazing!

Thanks to Scholastic Canada we’ve added a few new books to our collection this year!

Finding Christmas
By Robert Munsch, Illustrated by Michael Martchenko

Okay hands up, as kids, who went sneaking around the house searching for hidden presents? I think my brother is more guilty than me on this one but we definitely peeked under a few beds and in closets! lol Canada’s favourite children’s author Robert Munsch has written a story on this very topic, his first holiday book! The inspiration for the book came from his own daughter Julie who was a master peeker and always found and opened her gifts before Christmas day arrived! Of course, when the big day arrived she was always upset that she already knew what she was getting and their were no surprises for her lol. For this reason alone, my husband and I have actually held off on reading the book to the kids, we don’t want to give them any ideas! lol

How Do Dinosaurs Say Merry Christmas/Happy Chanukah?
By Jane Yolen and Mark Teague

My boys adore the How Do Dinosaurs series! We have a few of them and they are always a hit so I knew they would be really excited about the holiday versions. We are Christmas celebrating folks but we read both stories to the boys, it’s good for them to learn about other traditions in a fun way. Do dinosaurs dump stockings, lick all the candy canes, and act out in mischievous fashion during holiday celebrations??? Noooo….see how the dinosaurs turn it around for the holidays!

Scholastic Canada is giving three Canadian families a chance to win all three books this holiday season!
