Merry Twitter!

I don’t talk ‘social media’ to my kids. They know mommy works from home and to do her work she needs to be on the computer. While words like blog, facebook and twitter are part of every day adult conversation around here, they aren’t terms I use when speaking to the boys.

But I have a pretty keen 6 year old who has super sonic hearing when he wants to, absorbs conversation when you least expect it and has been known to read my mind since he was an infant (I wish I was kidding). So the first time he asked me if I was working on my blog, I laughed out loud!

But this weekend, I had to get the kids up early for a morning Christmas party we were attending.
‘Come on sleepy heads, get up!’ I told them.
“Where are we going?” Big Brother asked
“It will be fun! No swimming lessons  today, we are going to a Party!” I said
“What kind of party, a Twitter Party?” he grumbled
“What did you say?” I asked surprised
“Twitter, is it a Twitter Party?” he responded
Okay, I’m officially laughing now
“That’s funny bud, how do you know what a twitter party is?” I asked
“Oh I know what you do” he says

Needless to say, the Christmas party was WAY more fun than having mommy work late!

  1. BAHAHAHAHAHA Jack tells everyone that Mommy gets the mail for her work. Someone thought I delivered mail, and he says NO!!! They bring her the mail and she gets it, and it’s work and I get stuff!

  2. ha! That’s awesome! And very funny!
I think my boys are starting to catch on. Now every time we get something new in the house weather it be a new food, a new toy or something; before they touch it they ask me, “do you have to take pictures? Is this for your job?” Or they will see a new toy they want and the first thing isn’t “can you buy it” it’s “can you pitch for it?”
How did they learn the word PITCH? They are only 7 and 8 years old. And I try to keep my review items balanced and not do a ton of them either. But wow theya re smart cookies these people we can kids. lol.

  3. LOL too funny! My son is older and very aware of my twitter parties. He likes to watch me tweet during them and sometimes I have tell him not to look b/c I’m trying to win a surprise for him.

  4. LOL Social Media is a tricky one to explain to little ones but it sure sounds like your little one has it figured out!! Love it:)

  5. Hahahaha! that’s awesome. That sounds like my seven year old, she knows about facebook and youtube, every time I take a picture it’s always, “is that going on facebook?” or if she says something silly, “don’t put that on facebook!” I do anyways, lol. 🙂

  6. LOL omg that’s too funny!! It’s amazing what they hear when we don’t realize it. My 5 year old son has been talking about my blog quite a bit lately and he keeps telling me, “You should put that on your blog mom!” lol

  10. Hahahaha! Too funny!!

  11. That is too funny! My kids have said things like this too and I’m always surprised they even have an inkling of what it is. I often think I need to walk around with a recorder to capture the funny things they say.

  12. Oh, that is too funny! My little one sometimes cries and says, “Mommy, STOP working!” “Put down your BlackBerry!” “Who’s pinging you?” “Are you Tweeting?” “Stop texting!” *sigh* You know it’s time to shut down the shop and go unplugged when… 😉 lol

  13. Ha ha! That is too funny… Kids really DO say the darnest things! Lol

  14. LOL! That is too funny. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for. Every time I “try” to do work, my 1 year old comes and pushes me away from the computer and says “No more!” HAHA… maybe he thinks I’m a workaholic?

I love our kids!! They are so priceless!
You never know what will come out of their mouths.

  16. Tee hee! This is awesome! My boys know all about Twitter parties too and don’t mind them at all, mainly because they know that when Mom does a Twitter party, they get to stay up late and wreak havoc downstairs until I’m done! Lol Seriously, last time I wasn’t sure the house would be standing when the party was over; the noises coming from downstairs were horrifying!
