So the countdown to Christmas is officially with us, only 17 days left until the big day that we have built up for months. If there are any of you who have yet to buy your Christmas presents, don’t worry, you have plenty of time to purchase those special gifts for the ones that you love! However when you are in those shops spending a fortune, have you thought that this Christmas could be the time to start putting your amazing creative skills into practice and make your own holiday gifts?
For the past two years I have chosen to make a selected few of my family members homemade holiday calendars, my grandma loves anything which has been homemade and especially when the pictures are ones I have chosen from family photos taken throughout the year! Alternatively you can also use drawings and upload them onto your computer (perhaps some from the kids?). I find it is such a lovely way to show that you care, and could there be a more thoughtful gift than a homemade one?
Not only are Christmas calendars a great homemade gift, I also love anything edible at Christmas time. Whether this is a box full of beautifully made cookies wrapped up in gorgeous ribbon, or a jar of specially made chutney this could be a great present opportunity for those of us out there with excellent culinary skills wanting to show them off.
You could also combine your craft and cooking skills by making beautiful products and photographing them for your specially made calendars, especially if you’re trying to make some money from your efforts!
As this is the season for our beautiful little children, why not get them involved in Christmas crafts by making your own Christmas cards or Christmas wall hangings. These are so easy do to and can act as an extra gift for someone’s Christmas present. If you enjoy sprinkling glitter onto pieces of card and fabric this is the ultimate Christmas craft, alternatively you can make these online using online customisation to create special gifts for everyone.
