We are short on family and friends in our local area so I try to make our holiday season memorable by taking the kids to as many parades and events as possible over the Christmas season. When I saw that Max and Ruby were coming to town so star in their own holiday special I knew we just had to take our boys!
Recently we had our chance to take in the performance and it certainly was special. Following the tale of the Nutcracker, there were many dancers from different cultures to come out and mesmerize us with their amazing routines, but of course the big delight was seeing Max and Ruby themselves! (and Grandma too of course!)
Max and Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite
Max & Ruby bring to life a wonderful tradition this holiday season as they take to the stage their most magical performance yet! Inspired by one of the greatest musical scores ever composed – Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite – the beloved bunny siblings star in Koba Entertainment’s brand new musical production Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite. It’s a glistening snowy winter evening and Max & Ruby have been anxiously waiting for the most spectacular event of the year: seeing The Nutcracker ballet with Grandma. Imagine their disappointment when a snow storm keeps them at home! A story of The Nutcracker will have to do! So vivid is Grandma’s storytelling that the characters in the ballet come to life right before their very eyes! Max & Ruby marvel at the sight of many enchanting guests, including a Spanish bullfighter, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince. Ruby is eager to participate in their exquisite dance, but it’s Max who steals the show! Whether it was the sweets, or their lively imaginations, Max & Ruby head off to bed with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads!

Our boys did really liked the show. Because it was a sweet and magical show, it was a little on the slow side as far as action goes, but my boys held in there. There was a lot of ballet dancing, which is to be expected and it was very pretty. My boys were impressed with some of the male dancers and how strong they were to lift the ladies. The show ran a little long, just past 8pm, which is bedtime for many kids and we did see a few families leave early. The intermission may have been extended on our performance as it seemed painfully long and my kids did start asking if we could leave at this point. Once the show started again, they were fine. It was a bit difficult for the show to hold the boys attention because unfortunately our seats were at the back of the balcony. We were not able to see very well and certainly not any facial expressions from the people. Max and Ruby were larger than life and we could see them just fine. I don’t think I would see another production from those seats though. The performance ended with a fun chorus of different Christmas songs which the boys really enjoyed! It was a really nice holiday activity for the family to take in together!
You still have a chance to see Max and Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite this Holiday!

Oh wow! Looks like it was a blast! I know my girls, especially my littlest–would have loved it!
So nice! I meant to go to the show but forgot and missed the opp. I blame my simple pregnant brain.
Looks like you had fun.
That looks like so much fun! I’ve heard a lot about Max & Ruby but we’ve never watched the show. We’ll have to check it out now.
I bet that was a lot of fun. My girls got to see Caillou a while back and had a blast, this one would be fun to go to as well!
Wow! Their scenery/costumes are so vivid-bright – it looks like it’d be a blast for any age! 🙂
I still love Max and Ruby, we watched it so often. The kids are getting older but we still watch it together, my youngest still giggles at all the silly things Max gets into. It looks like it was a fun show!
