Artie and Diane Decker haven’t seen their grandchildren in quite a while, they’ve never been to their new house, and the only picture of them on the fireplace mantel was taken when the kids were infants. When they reluctantly arrive to babysit the threesome so mom and dad can get away for a much needed vacation, they quickly realize they are the ‘other grandparents’ and vow to change all that now that they are there.
But times have changed since they raised their own daughter and they find themselves scrambling with new age thinking and complicated technology. Things go from hectic to hysterical pretty quickly, as the kids and grandparents both fight for control of the house and one control freak parent who can’t let things go long enough to them try to work it out on their own.
This movie had my husband and I laughing numerous times, it was super funny and has many moving family moments as well, as the generations come together. It’s a family friendly movie, but if you have younger kids it just may not be something that will hold their attention since it’s not geared to a young audience. Nevertheless, you don’t need to worry about anything inappropriate if you do watch it before the kiddies go to bed.
I really loved how the movie came full circle, back to that beloved fireplace mantel, where in the end, we see with a little love and attention, Artie and Diane, earned their share of frames in beautiful, updated family photos!
