Dreaming of a Green Christmas? Choose eco-friendly toys with Eko Bear!

When I was in highschool, I banned wrapping paper from our house for the holidays. Yeah, mom and dad were probably a little shocked but they were good sports and went along with it. So, instead of wasting all that fancy wrapping paper that costs a fortune, is completely unnecessary and at the time was a big fat raspberry to the environment (recycling wasn’t happening back then like it is now, it all went into the garbage bag), our tree had presents wrapped in the comics and sports sections of the local paper. The tradition lasted a number of years and proves that even a teenager can tell when all this ‘stuff’ just gets to be too much!

Luckily today, it is so easy to make green choices part of our everyday routines and that doesn’t have to stop at Christmastime. In fact, it’s the best time to introduce your children to some of the best brands in organic and eco-friendly toys.

Eko Bear is your one stop shop for a Greener Christmas this year! The best part is, all the research is done for you; every product is eco-friendly! From biodegradable toys, toys made from recycled materials, toys made with sustainability in mind and just as importantly made with colours that are safe for our little ones as well as our planet. Okay, I lied, the BEST part is actually that you get to shop in your pajamas from your couch! You can do all your shopping online and beat the crowds!

My boys have had a good number of eco friendly toy trucks, and they are by far, the best toys we own. Boys are rough and tough on toys and every single truck has stood the test of time from the Sprig Dump Truck to the Green Toys Flat Bed and Race Car. They withstand the elements outside in the sandbox and they outlast my boys, and that is no small feat! This year, we turned to the tub and thought we would try out something different! We picked out the very cool Ferry Boat from Green Toys.

ALL ABOARD!

Set sail with the Green Toys Ferry Boat for a quick bathtub excursion or an extended trans-pool voyage. Whatever the adventure, this two-story vessel is ready to hit the open water with room for eco-friendly cargo galore, and even comes with two Green Toys Mini Fastbacks. Use the slide-out ramp to load up the spacious bottom level that accommodates up to four Green Toys Mini Vehicles or Fastbacks. The open top deck features two small benches on each side, as well as eleven windows looking down into the main level. This craft is ideal for any body of water – durable, buoyant, and dishwasher safe. The hull also detaches for easy cleaning.

Go ahead, guess what it’s made from??

Give up? It’s made with 100% recycled plastic milk containers! How cool is that? And rest assured there are no BPA, phthalates, PVC or external coatings.  The Ferry is packaged with recycled and recyclable materials and printed with soy inks. I love that these products come with simple packaging that is still sturdy. Kids toys are so overpackaged these days and you practically need tools to get into them, you won’t find that here.
