My seven year old is the self proclaimed, world’s biggest LEGO fan! His little brother’s are hot on his heels for the title, but he is definitely the LEGO king at our house and spends hours building one amazing creation after the other. LEGO will be high on his wish list this Christmas, but with buckets and buckets overflowing of those tiny bricks in the house, we knew it was time to think outside the box!
DK Canada was exactly what we were looking for! They have a HUGE selection of creative and informative books on every boy’s favourite toy – LEGO!
Choose from Minifigure encyclopedias, character visual dictionaries, sticker collections, level readers, and brickmaster sets – there is something for everyone and it will be so hard to pick just one!
LEGO Brickmaster sets
The Brickmaster sets, were new to me and not something I had seen before, but I knew they would be perfect for the kids. The only hard part about choosing this book was deciding between the Pirate or Castle set!
Fun LEGO® bricks and books come together in this fun set from DK. With more than 140 LEGO bricks and two minifigures, LEGO aficionados can build to their heart’s content. The hardcover book features easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to build new models from the LEGO® Castle play theme. Or, young builders can use their imaginations and come up with their own fantasy castle scenes. Dynamic full-color photos and clear illustrations make LEGO® Castle: Brickmaster the perfect set for all LEGO fans.
Part book, part toy, this is the perfect holiday gift for a LEGO lover. I liked how the pieces that come with the book can be used in many different ways to create different themed pieces. You can follow the direcions provided or use your imagination – the possibilities are endless!
LEGO Ideas Book
With The LEGO Ideas Book, you can take what you already have and make something new! The book is divided into six themed chapters—transportation, buildings, space, kingdoms, adventure, and useful makes—each with basic templates of key models and spreads to inspire you to create your own.
Hints and tips from Master Builders can help you turn your classic car into a race car or add a bridge to your castle! Don’t be concerned if you haven’t got all the bricks you need: this book also shows how to simplify details, making this a great user-friendly guide for any building ability.
This book is not a step by step manual, but an idea guide. The book should spark some good inspiration for future projects your little one is going to dream up!
LEGO Handful of Bricks 10 minute Challenge
To celebrate the launch of the new LEGO® Play Book, DK Canada started a new friendly challenge where they asked people from LEGO offices around the world to build something from a pile of random LEGO bricks in 10 minutes! What would you create at a rapid rate?
View all the entries HERE and be sure to vote for your favourite! I’ll be voting for Canada of course!!
You can play too!

That looks like an awesome set!
I have given that LEGO book to about 5 boys as birthday presents. I think it is so great. Thanks for letting me know about the 10 Minute LEGO creation challenge!
lol that’s awesome Margarita!
Lego is timeless – I still love it myself! All I need is to find a few kids so I have an excuse to play!
I can’t wait for my boys to be old enough to enjoy lego. I spent hours and hours as a kid making lego creations. I would have loved a book like that to draw ideas from.
