I think this will go down as the winter that just won’t end! With April 1st greeting us tomorrow morning, all this snow on the ground feels like the biggest April Fool’s prank ever! No worries, it’s bright and cheery in my livingroom thanks to some Spring Inspiration from Walmart Canada.
With a $100 gift card in hand and the challenge of performing a little Spring upgrade to a room in the house, I took to the newest Walmart flyer for inspiration. It didn’t take long to come up with my master plan after spotting a great deal on area rugs!
Once in store, I headed right for the rugs and found the exact one that had caught my eye in the flyer, there was only one left and I quickly scooped it up for my cart! The yellow was deeper and brighter than I had imagined, but I still loved it, knowing it was just the pop of colour my livingroom desperately needed!
Next, I made my way over to the accent pillows to find the perfect ones to bring the whole room together. My first pick was a pair of solid yellow pillows, however there was only two left in stock. I tucked them into my cart and browsed some more when I spotted some adorable butterfly pillows! I believe these are new in at Walmart and there were tons to choose from! I decided to get two for the other couch in the room and I’m really glad that I didn’t go with 4 of the same. I am really liking the different patterns and textures in the room!
Putting it all together
Our livingroom isn’t a room we make a lot of use of so it was a little bland and boring. It’s a long skinny room that can be hard to get positioned right and sometimes we flip flop where the couch and love seat sit. Which is why the art on the wall is a little out of place in the before pictures. Speaking of which, let’s take a peek at the before and after pictures of our new space!

I was able to add to the new colour scheme in the room with some existing pieces I had in other areas of the house as well! The yellow candle used to be in our master bedroom and the green pottery under it was bought on a trip to the East Coast of Canada! They make a great addition to the new and lively space and I moved a few wall pieces around as well.
Making the Grade
Part of my challenge was to clean up a room with the help and inspiration of Walmart Canada, I think I did pretty good with that! The items made a big impact with just a little bit of money! But the other half of the challenge was to stay within a $100 budget, so how did I do??
Before tax the 5 items came to $91.86 but once the tax was added in I went over by $3.80. I couldn’t help myself! There was no way I was putting back one of those gorgeous pillows! So technically speaking you could say I failed the Walmart Spring Challenge, but everytime I walk past my livingroom and smile, it sure feels like winning to me!

Everything needs a little spring upgrade, but my bedroom is the worst of the doom and gloom. I’ve been sick for over four years now and spend 80% of my day in bed. My bedroom duvet lost all of its filling, so now I have two old blankets, one being my husband’s childhood star wars blanket, on my bed and the duvet cover on top of that. The duvet cover is a hand-me-down from my mom, along with the curtains. I have a really nice dresser, but my wardrobe and bedside tables don’t match. My pillows need upgrading too.
maybe the family room since we are in there a lot would be a good starting point….you know what they say one good room makeover means another one is right around the corner…..
