When it comes to the annual family vacation, there’s no option like holidays to Benidorm to do the trick. Packed full of fun and not too pricey, both the kids and the family will have a tremendous time, whether they’re on a boat ride watching marine life or chilling in a bar watching clowns and the kids play games. It’s a chance for them to see something different and, at the same time, grab some sunshine (which is always nice!).
Here are some of the finest family activities in this charming little part of Spain:
Aqualandia
Situated on the outskirts of Benidorm, Aqualandia is an institution. Open since 1985, the park remains one of the world’s largest and covers some 150,000 square meters of wet and wild fun. There are waterslides, chute rides, wave pools, caves and man-made beaches. There are more adventurous rides for older family members and designated areas for young ones. The kids are spoilt for choice, and you can be sure they’ll sleep well in the evening!
Glass-bottomed boat rides
Benidorm Island is a large rock formation visible from almost every vantage point along the Benidorm coast. Glass-bottomed boats visit the island hourly and will delight visitors of all ages with the ocean fauna that passes below the water’s surface. The tours introduce children to a whole new world. Who knows, they might want to be marine biologists when they grow up!
Terra Natura
A must-see destination for animal lovers, Terra Natura is about a half an hour outside of Benidorm proper, half way up a nearby mountain that gifts visitors and the natives views of the city and ocean below. The park is divided into several sections representing each continent. There are live demonstrations, entertaining shows, shops and restaurants to please every member of the family.
The bars of Benidorm
Spanish bars are the center of social activity. Many of the bars offer parents the chance to unwind while children enjoy the perks of kid-specific programs available at many of the resort’s establishments. Offering child-friendly fun in the form of karaoke, film screenings, clowns, juggling acts and all sorts of games, a Benidorm bar isn’t your average watering hole.
One of Spain’s oldest and most popular resorts, Benidorm bursts with fun for the family. The adventurous activities open to them will make the holiday an unforgettable experience.
