The Dinosaurs are taking over Toronto!!!
Like most boys, my guys love dinosaurs! Imagine their surprise when we brought them to see Dinosaur Zoo Live this past weekend where their favourite dinosaurs came to life right before their very eyes!!
Erth – one of Australia’s best-loved and most innovative theatre companies – take kids aged 4-400 on an extraordinary prehistoric journey with an incredible cast of Dinosaurs that inhabited our world millions of years ago. Children can get up close and personal with these amazingly life-like creatures during this fun-filled show.
The show is hosted by the fabulous Jackson who does a great job of making both the adults and the children laugh out loud. Throughout the show Jackson introduces and educates the audience on each type of dinosaur, from the newest babies to the biggest of the big, and even manages to break up a potential fight between a Triceratops and a T-Rex! All in a days work for Jackson!
Dinosaur Zoo Live is performing at the Panasonic Theatre, which is small enough that every seat has a great view. I was happy to see that there were plenty of booster seats in the lobby to help the kids get a boost up to see over adults in front of them. The Orchestra seats offer the best interaction with the dinosaurs and if your kid really has their heart set on getting picked to go on stage, you’ll want to grab seats in the first few rows. A number of children are selected to head up on stage to work with Jackson and the dinosaurs, even one unfortunate girl who had her head stuffed inside a T-Rex’s Mouth!
The puppets are so incredibly life like and even though you could see the amazing puppeteers, the show had a way of making you forget the dinos weren’t real! Their eyes blinked and their movements mimicked what I can only imagine a real dinos movements would look like! But it was the sound that really made the dino’s come to life! The snorts, grunts and ROOOOOAAARRRRS were incredible!!!!
Not only did the boys love the show, but us parents had a great time too! The hour flew by and we were all sad to see it end. After the show the baby dinosaurs are waiting in the lobby for the kids to meet them up close and personal! I’ll warn you, the lobby is quite small and the area becomes crowded quite quickly, with no distinct lines formed it’s a little bit confusing and can be a long wait, but my boys really loved holding the baby up close, especially my 8 year old!
My boys saw a similar show many year ago. Very cool! Looks like a fun time for the family
Dinosaurs never go out of style do they? It’s funny how boy things stand the test of time!
My oldest would freak to see Dino’s come to life in front of him:) Thanks for the tip about the wait after the show I could see why it would be worth the wait. It sounds like a great experience thanks for sharing:)
Yes, the lobby gets very crowded and it’s a big of a wait but it really personalizes the experience for the kids!
Wow – that looks like so much fun. What a great way to teach kids about dinosaurs by bringing them to life!
