As a boymom to three, I’ll admit I don’t really ‘get’ everything my kids are into these days. Enderman what? Charizard who? And how to do I get my hands on this Chi they speak of?
It’s not always easy being the only girl in a house of boys and even harder to keep up with all of the latest boy crazes. For a while I tried to just tune it all out and let them do there own thing, but soon began to realize that if I didn’t figure out what they loved to chat about, they would soon find someone else to do their chatting to and I didn’t want that to happen! Time to turn to my favourite resource outlet – DK Canada.
Ninjago is a current line of sets produced from LEGO that started in 2011, apparently it’s so popular that it was extended beyond it’s planned end date of 2013. So the Masters of Spinjitzu are here to stay and it’s time for Mom (oh and the boys too I suppose!) to learn a little bit more about them!
LEGO NINJAGO VISUAL DICTIONARY
Meet the Masters of the Spinjitzu as they prepare to do battle and learn about great heroes and the ninjas’ mortal enemies while discovering little-known facts about their weapons and vehicles. Discover everything there is to know about the world of LEGO® Ninjago with DK’s all-new LEGO Ninjago: The Visual Dictionary.
The dictionary is broken down into 4 chapers: Friends, Foes, Specialist Sets and Beyond the Brick.
In Friends we learn all about Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane and of course Sensei Wu. You’ll get a look at all their cool vehicles, different outfits they can wear, different facilities they hang out at and the super cool dragons. I’m thinking that Golden Dragon is pretty darn cool, even in my books!
The Foes chapter covers Lord Garmadon (evil villian who just happens to be the brother of Sensei Wu! dun..dun.dun), the Skeleton Army, The Serpentine Tribes, and all about thse pesky Nindroids!
The Specialist Sets section is really cool if you have kids who love to collect. It gives a run down of all the spinner sets that were created, along with battle arenas, booster packs, trading cards etc.
Ready to go behind the scenes of Ninjago? The Beyond the Brick chapter features an interview with Simon Lucas who is the creative lead on LEGO Ninjago at LEGO headquarters in Denmark, and offers awesome kid questions such as “Which is your favourite LEGO Ninjago set?” and “What advice do you have for anyone who wants to be an official LEGO designer?”. Two questions I know my own boys would ask Simon, given the chance! It also includes info about the tv series and video games, other merchandise and some really cool peeks at some custom build projects other fans of LEGO Ninjago made!
Kids will love reading the dramatic storylines from the fun LEGO Ninjago episodes and movies, but might all agree that the best part is the limited edition minifigure of Zane Rebooted, tucked right into the cover of the book!
The Ninja recruits are a little bit like my boys, they each have their own distinct personality but each of them is filled with wisdom, warmth and humour to spare! Take a few minutes to invest in your boys and get to know the stories, characters and toys they really love. DK Canada makes it really easy and fun to learn all about what your boys are obsessing over these days and it’s a great way to bond with your kiddos! They’ll thank you with cuddle time on the couch over the newest visual dictionary!
Head on over to the DK Canada Gift Boutique where you’ll find other great titles your boys will love including The Marvel Encyclopedia, Star Wars Complete Visual Dictionary, Batman A Visual History and so much more!
