With all the pink and flowers you see around Valentine’s Day, it’s no wonder my boys think it’s a girly holiday. But it’s not supposed to be, Valentine’s Day is simply supposed to be a day to show your love for those you care about and boys are definitely included in that! So off to Walmart I went with my Valentine’s shopping list in hand, to see if I could hunt down some boy approved Valentine treats and cards for my boys!
First stop: Treats! The way to every kids heart is through their sweet tooth right? The price was certainly right on most things, sweets for your sweet for only $5 is a bargain! Yeah, they were very pink, but my boys never say no to cookies and they also had our favourite Kimberley’s Bakeshoppe red velvet cupcakes that are to die for! My chosen dessert for the festive day required silicon baking cups which I could not find, so my plans might have to change a little. I did find some super cute cupcake stands and definitely brought those home with me!
Moving on to Chocolate, because it’s not Valentine’s Day without chocolate! I found the good stuff when I spotted all the gold! Ferrero Rocher is amazing, but the heart shaped boxes of Turtles were calling my name too. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Turtle! For the boys, I spotted some cute Snoopy boxes by Russell Stover, they will be a hit for sure!
There was no shortage of great cards to choose from! A whole display of individual cards and some really fun classroom valentines as well. I had a hard time choosing between the Star Wars cards for only $3 and the Skittles candy cards for $5. Knowing how excited my own kids get when they spot candy in their Valentine’s bag, I went with Skittles packs, and got a big thumbs up from the boys when I got home! For the first time ever, they all sat down at the table and plowed through their whole Valentine’s list to get them ready! It usually takes us days to get this done! There was even a few extras, that they felt they deserved for all their hard work!
I already have some books set aside for the boys Valentine’s gift, but these adorable stuffies were hard to resist! Just look at those faces! And like most things at Walmart, the price is hard to say no to!
Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be extravagant, we like to keep things simple, but fun and Walmart Canada helps us get creative and still stay on budget. According to a survey conducted by Walmart Canada for this Valentine’s Day, the most popular gifts for Valentine’s Day are candy (51 per cent) followed by greeting cards (34 per cent), apparel/footwear (27 per cent), gift cards (16 per cent) toys (14 per cent), and flowers (13 per cent).
Whether you’re shopping for your partner, girls or a group of boys this year, there’s a good chance you’ll find it at your local Walmart store. I had no problem find everything I needed for the boys to grin over without getting ‘grossed out’!

Boy valentines can be so hard! I know with two boys I was greatful for the selection of Batman and Marvel valentines that Walmart Canada had. Both of my boys went to school with many cards to give out…they were thrilled!
My boys are super excited for their class parties tomorrow! You would think it was Christmas! lol
I was so frustrated when shopping for a mixed box of v-cards for my daughters class, I ended up buying 2 boxes, 1 for boys and 1 for girls. This was no one is offended. Next year we will be making our own.
we haven’t bought store valentines in a long time, but I liked that that the skittles pack were pretty neutral and had some stickers that said things like “you rock” and not all ‘be mine’.
We’ll be baking heart shapped cookies tomorrow and maybe do some crafts 🙂 I like printing off cards from great design sites for free. Some not as cheezy, lol
some can be pretty cheesey! lol
Ferrero Rocher are one of my husbands favourite chocolates. I may need to pick some up this year (he wasn’t eating sugar last year, so it was hard to think of what to do for him!)
I have that problem this year!
Next time bring me with you. I LOVE LOVE FERRERO Chocolate. they are the best
Walmart is always great for having such variety in products! Now the key is to not procrastinating and having all the shelves bought out when you get there!
lol so true!
Glad to hear the boys were happy with the Skittles cards, it’s nice that they can do cards that are not to girly..lol!! Hope everyone enjoys their Valentines!!
apparently they were a big hit with the class, the kids got really excited about them!
Walmart is always my go-to store to pick up items for holidays, they always have a great selection.
Ferrero Rocher are one of my favourite chocolates.
We made our own this year. It didn’t take too long and everyone loved them ’cause we just glow-sticks!
Glow sticks are always a hit!
I bought some Valentine’s Day card from Walmart for my son that had fast food type erasers! They had hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, etc. So cute and both boys and girls loved them.
ohhh that does sound cute! I’m sure they were a hit!
Those Star Wars Valentine’s Day cards were super, I’ve not seen them before 🙂
I am so hungry and all these treat look so yummy
I’m not surprised that candy tops the list!
I have always bought 2 packages one boy, one girl
we did paw patrol valentines 🙂 my guy is only two so it was just for his cousins and uncle and aunts but we taped a little sucker to them 🙂
