Knorr asks you, What is the greatest flavor on earth??
Sunday night roast? Your mom’s baked apple pie? Dad’s lasagna dinners?
Chances are, your greatest flavor on earth reminds you of home. Our favorite flavors are rooted in much more than taste alone, they trigger memories and emotions so that just one bite of our favourite dish can transport us back to special moments in our life. The taste of Home. Comfort food is never the same for any two people, we each have our favourite flavours, spices, and ingredients that conjur up sweet memories or our childhood, travels and past life experiences.
Knorr celebrates this power of flavor in the new short film, “Flavor of Home.” The film tells the story of a girl named Carmen, who left home to be a husky guide in the Arctic Circle. She misses her family, friends, and home cooked meals, but Knorr has an amazing surprise for Carmen! Her mother journeys all the way to the Artic to bring her the taste of home.
Check it out, and pass the tissues!
The film will touch the hearts of anyone who’s had to leave home behind and makes me wonder which meals of mine, my own boys will start to crave once they are out on their own. What will the greatest flavour on earth be to them? Which meals will they order in restaurants or try to recreate in their apartments, as they long for the taste of home?
I hope my boys don’t go as far as the Arctic circle, because when they do yearn for the taste of home, I want to be there to make it for them!

When you said bring tissues you meant it. I don’t think my boys will miss any of my cooking in particular but more or so miss things like family breakfast etc.
Sadly I know the feeling of family moving away with my sister not living close. SIGH this made me think of her and send her a message. Thanks for sharing Jen!
it’s probably not so much the taste but the memory, I bet your boys will think of you every time they sit down for a big family weekend breakfast when they are older!
Tear jerker!! Oh my goodness. I would totally miss my mom and her cooking if I moved far away. I love Knorr products….especially the soups! They definitely make any place feel like home 🙂
I went to Australia for a summer as a teen, and the food was just so different tasting from what we ate at home. Even the same fast food restaurants that we have here didn’t taste the same!
Thanks for the warning! Oh my goodness, went through a few tissues watching this. You’re right — favourite flavours are those that remind me of home or family get togethers.
The saying “Food tastes better when you eat it with your family” certainly rings true. Thanks for the reminder – I’m going to call my mom now!
Oh my gosh you weren’t kidding, I definitely had to grab for a tissue! It’s so true though, there are definitely particular dishes that are associated with strong memories for me. Salmon sandwiches remind me of my grandparents of all things.
Wow – that really hits home. My boys told me yesterday they were never moving out – I sure hope so! So many recipes remind me of my family and special times. Chicken soup with rice and pumpkin pie remind me of my grandmother.
This can make me dry I so miss Nana cooking
I had grab a tissue!
Nothing tastes as good as mom’s homemade cooking does it? I love cooking for my family mostly because it brings back memories of my mom cooking for me. 🙂 Whenever I get sick I crave my mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup. Beautiful video.
I can’t even think about my boys leaving home without getting really sad. This video made me cry.
I hear ya!
Aw what a heartwarming video!
a lovely video 🙂 I have two of my mum’s recipes that have now in turn been passed onto my children. They were my favourites and still are. One was potato pie and the other was strawberry shortcake – both to die for 🙂
ooohhhh I bet those are amazing! We have a couple of recipes that my mother in law used to make, now that she has passed away I’m so happy we have those to remember her by!
