Ever feel like the only time you get to see the garden these days is when you’ve got to work on it? Weeding the flower beds, mowing the grass, trimming the hedges, the edges, the bushes… when will it end!
Now that spring is here and summer is knocking on the door why not plan a special lunch or memorable day that’ll let you and the kids get out and enjoy the garden? It needn’t be a calendar celebration like a birthday, just a fun day for its own sake. Take advantage of some quality bonding time with your family and immerse yourself in all that the garden has to offer with a garden marquee.
Whether in need of shade, a cool breeze or even rain protection – this is Canada, after all! – there’ll be glimpses of your beautiful garden in springtime through open rolled-up sides or built-in windows to make all that winter and pre-spring gardening work worthwhile. And it’s not just marquees, there are a wide choice of practical garden shelters available including party tents, pop-up canopies and gazebos. Your options for making that first sunny day out there super special and memorable are just huge.
Why not give your day a special twist with a treasure hunt around the garden ending up in the marquee. It’ll be a good release for some of that pent-up winter energy – plus it’ll build up the kids’ appetite for a fun lunch in the sun with the family.
Then, before you serve the ice cream and brownies – get the adults involved in the treasure hunt! After all this running around everybody will really enjoy that fabulous lunch you’ve prepared.
And if spring’s kind to you and the nights are warm enough, there’s always the option of dropping the side of the marquee and turning it into a camp-out adventure at night. You’ll be able to keep an eye on the little rascals from inside and have a peaceful night in the house. In fact the only thing you might be able to hear is a bunch of happy campers giggling and talking about how awesome their day in the garden with the family has been.
I love seeing all the color! We spent the entire day taking pics at my parents house of all the new color popping out of the ground. I think I may have some new photos to hang!
Love watching all the Gardens coming to life, amazing how they seem to pop overnight.
Those crocuses are so beautiful. I point them out to my boys on our walks.
I love how they are the first real indicators of spring in our garden!
My youngest has suggested that we have a backyard camp fire. If this weekend cooperates I think we will make it happen. Everyone loves to sit around the fire pit and roast hot dogs and marshmallows.
My parents have a fire pit, that sounds like a good idea for the long weekend! fingers crossed for good weather!
Shiny Day!
I love the photos, wish we were that far here 🙁 It’s been snowing here all day, it won’t last of course but still it is piling up and I just wish it would stop!
After this hard winter I am happy to see those crocuses
It is actually nice to see some colour, loving the site of the flowers blooming!!
It’s nice to see things blooming 🙂
A little off topic but the photos above have inspired me to add crocuses to our front beds. There are daffodils there now and the added colour would really set things off. Thanks.
These are great ideas for spending some quality time with family. I love the idea of a camp out adventure.
You know spring has sprung when there’s color!
The flowers are so beautiful. I can’t wait until we start seeing some blooms here.
