Back-to-school styles made easy

Growing up my brother was always reinventing himself. His style changed on the regular and my friends were never quite sure who they would find walking out of the bedroom down the hall. From punk to skater and even preppy, he kept my mom on her toes in the clothes department. My own boys are still small but it’s clear that they are starting to develop their style and find themselves as they grow. My middle boy went all through grade one wanting to wear “fancy” clothes, which just meant khakis and nice sweaters, but that summer he picked up soccer and his sporty side started to shine through. By grade two all he wanted to wear were graphic tees and athletic pants. No matter the wardrobe, I’ve found over the years that Carter’s | OshKosh has quality clothing that stand the test of time. As a mom of three boys, we know a thing or two about choosing pieces that will not only last through one kid, but three!

This week I took my 10 year old out for a little one-on-one time in the city and we stopped into Carter’s | OshKosh to pick up a few back-to-school items. Immediately he gravitated to the ‘comfy’ pants. These have been a struggle for us because he loves to be comfortable and will also wear these to soccer practice in the early spring, but they almost never fit him in both the waist and the length at the same time. Surprisingly, we found a winner! Once we got him in the change room to try them on, we were both surprised to see that these Jersey-Lined Heritage Active Pants fit just fine!

Now that he had what he wanted, it was my turn! I really wanted to find him an outfit that he could wear for class pictures at school. We scoured the wall of jeans and he was good to read the chart and choose which style he likes best from Classic, Straight or Skinny. He decided on the Classic fit jeans which looked great and have an adjustable waist (yay!). We picked out a few tops to try on, and in the end decided to pair the jeans with a fun graphic long-sleeve tee layered under a 2-Pocket Plaid Button-Front Shirt. His favourite colour is blue, can ya tell?

I like that with just these 4 items he’s able to mix and match the pieces to create different looks. Carter’s | OshKosh offers one-stop-shopping with head-to-toe fashion for kids from the newborn stage (so so so cute apparel for babies!!!) all the way up to big kids. I find the clothes run a little on the big side; my ten year old is still in a size 8, so he still has a few years of back-to-school shopping at Carter’s | OshKosh.

That rarely happens right? I’m usually envious looking over to the other side of the store lol

      • my girl is picky……I wish she was as simple to shop for as my boy was lol. She usually says “it’s not pretty enough” . She does not get that from me.
