I’m always excited to see what’s new in the world of toys and there’s no better time than Christmas to really see what’s out there for the little ones. I find that boys toys really stand the test of time, as some of the same toys my brother played with growing up, my own boys are playing with now. But toys are definitely getting more and more advanced and I’m hoping my non-techy brain can still figure them out as they evolve! I’m sure my boys will have them all figured out way before me though! lol
What does the Future of Play look like? Check out these fun new toys available this holiday season!
MagicMeeMees
MagicMeeMees are the most adorable little creatures that are said to live all around us! Each character has their own personality, comes from a different ‘land’ and has their own favourite food, because Magic MeeMee’s love to eat! They move, talk to other MagicMeeMees and light up in 7 different colours!
By collecting MagicMeeMees from different lands you can create your very own MeeMeeopolis! We have started our set with Penny Gwen from IceLand and Lima Lina from BerryLand. You can even buy special treats for your MagicMeeMee! To feed your friend, just point your Yummee towards him and press on the small button on his belly. Will your love it or hate it? Like my boys, sometimes they can be picky lol MagicMeeMees give off different colours to let you know how they are feeling, so they might like it (light blue), think it’s just so-so (yellow) or hate it or feel full (pink). There are 26 Yummee surprises, so there’s bound to be some favourites! MagicMeeMees are geared for ages 4 and up.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Battlesnap Sewer Slam Deluxe Battle Game
My boys love to play rock, paper, scissors so I know they are going to love this game! Why? Because the premise is the same but it’s far more exciting than the hand game.
TMNT Battlesnap Sewer Slam Game: Get ready for the ULTIMATE BATTLE GAME between the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their Archrival Villains. Choose your Battle Power: Pizza, Weapons or Mutagen. Now choose one of 6 interchangeable game figures and snap them onto the BattleSnap Card. Next, load the card onto the Sewer Slam Crane then release them on a collision course to battle, the strongest power wins! Be the first player with 4 pizza slices and you win!
So instead of rock, paper, scissors, your TMNT battle powers are: Pizza, Weapons or Mutagen. The dial showing the battle powers is a wee bit small, but you just turn it to the power you want to use.
Weapons beat mutagan, mutagen beats pizza and pizza beats weapons.
Game comes with:
- Six Game Pieces – Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, Bebop, Rocksteady
- One Sewer Slam Crane
- Two Battlesnap Cards
- 8 Pizza slices
- 1 Collision platform
- Geared for ages 4 and up.
COJI – The Coding Robot from WowWee
COJI teaches your child to program using a language they already know – EMOJIS! Your junior coder will have fun problem-solving using the app to control COJI’s actions. My boys are definitely big on emojis so this will be a super fun way to learn all about coding, talk about the future of play!
COJI is geared for ages 4 and up, so even the little guys will be able to easily master programing COJI with simple emoji commands. Kids can also play games that test memory and problem solving skills so there is so much learning happening, but it’s too fun to notice! COJI also reacts to physical stimulation such as tilting, shaking, or lying him down.
You’ll need the app on a compatible smartphone or tablet to get the full educational value out of COJI as well as driving him around and playing various games. However, COJI is also tons of fun without the app. COJI has a number of pre-loaded emojis that you can play with. You can cycle through the emojis displayed on COJI’s LCD screen by pressing the buttons on the sides of his head, and animate each emoji by pressing down on his head.
“LOL” as COJI steals your “heart” with pre-programmed responses.

I think the COJI – The Coding Robot from WowWee looks interesting. My kids loved TMNT when they were young.
Are the Mee Mees the new thing now instead of shopkins?
These are quite a bit bigger than shopkins but just as cute!
My granddaughter is turning 4 on Christmas Eve; thinking she would like the Magic Meemees!
I’m always amazed at all the new toys that come out every year. When I think back to my childhood, it was a doll, a skipping rope, cards and dice oh and dominoes and that was it until we got a pram for the dolls. Later on there was Monopoly but really there was very little otherwise.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sure have changed since my kids were young
