Are you ready to party and cheer on your favourite NBA team?
The NBA Finals kick off tonight in Toronto and Canada is ready! The Toronto Raptors are Canada’s only NBA team, so there’s no need for us to worry about who to cheer for, we’re all on the same side up here! We The North!
Invite your friends, even the ones who jumped on the Raptors bandwagon last week because who can blame us, basketball may not be our thing, but any proud Canadian would be excited to see our team make it this far. That’s reason enough to grab a beverage, snack and gather with friends to watch the game.
Stress eaters, don’t despair, I’ve got the ultimate spread to get you through the game.

Desert Pepper Trading Company
Salsas and dips are party food staples, everyone loves them and they are the easiest of snacks to prepare. Desert Pepper Trading Company has been a family owned business for 25 years and they’ve perfected that Southwestern flavour that fans love.
Desert Pepper salsas and dips are all natural with no added water, starches or preservatives and are both fat-free and gluten-free making them an excellent selection for serving a large crowd or just your small family.
They boast a wide variety of flavours and different heat levels to suit your personal tastes, we tried these products below:
Roasted Tomato Chipotle Corn Salsa
Peach Mango Salsa
Tequila Salsa
Salsa Diablo
Black Bean Dip
This was our families first experience trying Desert Pepper Trading Company Salsa and Dip. We were drawn to the fun packaging and became fans at first taste. We loved the flavour and texture of all the varieties. I am a big fan of the ‘restaurant’ style salsa that is smoother in consistency, but other brands we’ve tried have been too watery. This was not the case at all with Desert Pepper! The corn salsa had a nice added crunch with the corn and the Tequila Salsa had the perfect spice level for us with a nice heat but not too overpowering.
The Black Bean Dip was surprisingly easy to pour/spoon from the jar and had slight tang that was unexpected but good. The dip was easy to scoop with chips and didn’t break them to bits.
Speaking of chips, you’ll want to choose a quality chip to go with your gourmet spread, choose Xochitl Corn Tortilla Chips.
Xochitl Corn Tortilla Chips
Xochitl chips are a unique light tortilla chip oven-baked and quickly fried to perfection with non-hydrogenated oils to create deliciously thin and crispy chips. These were exactly what we’ve been looking for. They were so light and crispy and tasted amazing with or without the dips!
Xochitl tortilla chips are Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Verified, Kosher Certified, has 0 Trans Fat and contain no preservatives. The brown paper bag packaging helps keep the chips fresh, longer.
We tried both The Dipper and the Blue Corn Chips (also known as Hopi maize) and loved them both, they were thin and crisp but still strong enough to hold both the salsas and bean dip. They also were a perfect base to some loaded nachos!
To stock up for summer parties, barbecues and of course the rest of the NBA Finals, visit the Gourmet Trading Company website or if you are in the GTA try Pusateri’s or Longo’s.
I never heard of this brand before. Looks delicious 😋
Next time I am at Longo’s I’ll buy some.
Great post! “Let’s go Raptors!” 🙂
This was a first for me too Doris, but not the last! Everything was so good, I fell in love with those chips!
What a great game last night! Go Raptors!
This looks lovely and so colourful, unfortunately I can’t eat spicy food but my kids and grandkids all love it.
They all sound so good, I love salsa and chips, would love to give this company a try!!
I’ve never heard of this brand before, not a person that can handle hot spice, when I use a salsa it has to be a mild variety.
I have a weakness for salsa and chips, looks so tasty!
Can’t seem to find those chips anywhere !
