Our Little Getaway

While I was on a bit of a blogging hiatus, we took our first ever family of 5 getaway. The last two summers have each brought us a newborn, so this was a long time coming! We weren’t too sure how it would go, but we were optimistic and excited to take the boys away for a few days.
We drove for a couple of hours which isn’t a big deal for my guys, but this was our first hotel experience. We weren’t stupid, we got the suite! lol it had a kitchen and separate bedroom so we could all spread out. The kitchen allowed us to cook our dinner keeping costs down and we could prepare Little Buddy’s bottles and food. When we walked in Big Brother said “This isn’t a hotel, it’s a house”
Since it was his birthday while we were there, I brought cupcakes to celebrate! The hotel provided a hot breakfast so that meal was always covered and it also had  a pool. We took the boys swimming twice and they really liked it. The water was a little cold for mom and dad! We both hate cold water but we sucked it up for the boys and then they rewarded us with super good boy behaviour  while we soaked in the hot tub afterward! yay! they just sat there and kicked their feet in it! 🙂
We brought some new toys that the boys got for their birthdays with us to keep them occupied during down time in the hotel and it worked out great!

Our big outing was spent at the zoo. It was crazy busy when we first got there with tons of school buses unloading, but the further we got in, the better it was. The boys were really really good! It was a hot day and we spent 5 hours there! We towed the big boys in a wagon and they barely complained about not being able to run wild. Little Buddy needed some convincing to nap in the stroller but he gave in and had a little one. It went really well!

We rewarded the boys with some big popsicles before we left and grabbed some pizza to take back to the hotel. The boys both love pizza! (miracles do happen).

We stopped to do some shopping on the way home the next day ( we stayed two nights) and I’ll admit it, we were pushing our luck with short naps and missed naps all over the place over the last couple of days, but Big Brother and I both were in desperate need of summer clothes so we tried it. It went well for the most part, but when Middle Man had a huge meltdown, we knew it was time to head out! lol

Little Buddy loved the mall though, he smiled and waved at anyone who would look his way! it was so cute! random people would start laughing or waving at us and we would look down and there was Little Buddy, just making everyone’s day with a smile and a wave!

Here’s few more pics of our trip!
