Scholastic Saves Christmas!

I was able to take Big Brother to his very first Scholastic Book Fair at his school this year and I don’t know who was more excited- him or me!! I’ve been a Scholastic Canada fan since I was about his age, 4!
Check out what Scholastic has out this Holiday Season-

The Queen’s Secret
Canadian author and Illustrator
Frieda Wishinsky/Illustrations by Loufane
Hardcover/ $16.99cdn/ ages 3-7
Our family loves a rhyming book and this was a cute one. Kay is wondering what the Queen keeps in her purse and gets to find out, but she has to keep it a secret! Big Brother loves that he knows the secret too and Mommy likes checking out all the Queen’s stylish purses!
It’s Christmas, David!
David Shannon
Hardcover/$19.99cdn/ages 3-7
I’m not a big fan of the David series of books. He’s pretty naughty and the pictures throw me off a bit, But for the record, Big Brother put this on his book fair wishlist, even though we already had it at home so he must really like it!
Poor David tries to be a good boy for Santa in this book, but struggles. The best part is the picture of David running through the snow with a bare bum, priceless!
Mad at Mommy
Komako Sakai
hardcover/$19.99cdn/ages 3-7
This little bunny is mad at his mommy. Part of the book made me feel guilty for doing things like sleeping in late on Saturdays and other parts made me want to report mommy for neglect for things like picking him up late from school and forgetting to wash his clothes! lol But the best part of all is when he is mad at his mommy because he finds out he can’t marry her, not even when he’s bigger….awwww……
A Porcupine in a Pine Tree
Canadian Author and Illustrator
Helaine Becker/ Werner Zimmerman
harcover/$16.99cdn/ages 3-7
This delightful book is a Canadian take on the classic Christmas song the 12 Days of Christmas. You won’t find any turtle doves or golden rings in this story though, they have all been replaced with characters that us Canadians know and love the best, like Beaver Tails, Sled Dogs and Stanley Cups!!
Big Brother is only four and he can pick this up and sing it to me now! It’s really great!
This book should be in every Canadian household for the holidays!

So tell me- if you were writing a Canadian version of the 12 Days of Christmas what would you include??
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…………

I was provided with the above mentioned books for reviewing purposes only. I was not paid for this post and all opinions expressed are my own. you may have different experiences.
