Well it’s official! One year older! Mid Thirties are here! Friday was my birthday and well, let’s just say that was one celebration that could have been better. I was feeling really crappy with a cold I had just caught the day or so before, so the whole day was pretty awful at home with the kids.
Hubster brought home some chinese so at least I didn’t have to cook! He also tried really hard to make me a fanstastic cake and it didn’t turn out so good. I felt horrible for him! After telling him I didn’t love boxed cake I thought he might go buy me one, but he set out on a mission to make a pretty elaborate mousse cake. The ingredients were the best, the cake took a long time to make- 1.5 hours in the oven, and it looked faB-u-Lous! We couldn’t wait to try it! only it the taste paled in comparison to the pretty presentation. poor Daddy. At least the kids liked it!
The kids went to bed at 8pm and Hubster fell asleep at 9pm. Yup the year my birthday falls on a Friday and the house was still by 9pm! I watched some tv and played on my laptop until 11pm and then crashed too.
Saturday I was feeling better, in the morning I went for a haircut and I asked the hairdresser to put my hair up since I was going to a wedding that afternoon.
I used to love my hair before I had kids, it was easy to manage and I could do a few things with it, but not anymore. Now it is thin and has cow licks and well, it’s a mess all the time.
Anyways, the wedding was great, it was so nice to get out of the house, without the kids and have some fun! It was a nice, small, winter wedding and the Bride was Gorgeous!! So fun to celebrate the day with her and some really great friends. I even did a bar shot and got felt up by a chick! lol sounds racy, but I promise you it wasn’t that wild!
Here’s the happy couple! Hopefully she doesn’t mind the blog shot, but come on, they look pretty awesome don’t they?
We always stay in for Valentine’s Day, maybe because my birthday falls a couple of days before and we used to go out for that. I don’t know. But we always stay in.
Hubster bought me some really beautiful roses, they were a dozen red and a dozen white. Soooo pretty! I also got some chocolate treats.
The boys and I made Daddy cards in the morning and in the afternoon we made some yummy shortbread heart cookies with icing. Daddy loves those!
I made a fantabulous breaded chicken breast stuffed with feta and bacon for dinner and we ate in the diningroom with candles. The boys always thinks this is soooo fun! I bought a cute tablecloth with hearts all over it from the dollar store, so it was festive and the boys got some chocolate treats just for them too. Oh and I surprised them with strawberry milk, they have never had that before and thought it was pretty cool to have pink milk! Needless to say we all weigh a few pounds heavier this morning!
This is Big Brother’s first year in school, so it’s his first ever Valentine’s Party today and he’s pretty pumped about it. He wrote out all of his Valentine’s all by himself! I was impressed! A few months back he couldn’t write one letter and now he’s writing all of his friends names! If it wasn’t so painful to sit and help him the whole, slow writing time, I would have been more enthusiastic about his progress.
