I see ya reading words like ‘country music’ and moving your mouse to click away, but give me a chance.
I am not a country music fan and quite frankly I almost tossed this book aside too, but then I read that it wasn’t stories about country livin’ it was the stories behind the songs. The stories of how the songs came about, right from the song writers, not the singers. The inspiration, the motivation, the collaboration and hard work to get them into the hands and hearts of countries biggest stars!
While I may not be a country music fan I am a fan of a good story and I actually really enjoyed the book! No kidding!
My parents are both country music lovers so I grew up with these sad tales crooning from our radio. Not the country that you hear now a days (which admittedly is much better) but the oldies like Willy Nelson, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton. A lot of today’s country crosses over to the pop radio stations as well, so over all I recognized more songs than I thought I would.

For a book I was about to ignore I really enjoyed the behind the scenes look at song writing, I hope Chicken Soup for the Soul makes more like this- except not country next time lol
