I know, I know, Halloween talk in August? I’m not usually one to rush the seasons either but my excitement to attend the BlissDom Canada conference was at fault! The conference is held in October, before Halloween and there is a costume party for all involved.
I eagerly searched the Women’s halloween costumes on the Wholesale Halloween Costumes website in hopes of finding something FuN to wear that I could throw on easily and feel comfortable in all night. I debated between some lovely Greek Goddess dresses, but in the end settled on Wilma Flinstone because it looked like a lot of fun! I just love that big rock necklace!
Unfortunately, when the packaged arrived I was anything but excited. I was disappointed to find that the costume I had in hand could never look like the image on the package.
Here’s why:
Even though I ordered a small size, the dress is very big and it is very see-through. You could not decently wear the dress without clothing underneath for even white undergarments show right through the material and it would need some serious tailoring to get it to fit like the picture. With it being a one shouldered dress, wearing a tee or even a tank would not look good and ruin the effect of playing Wilma. The wig is a great colour and carefully constructed but it is not the shape of a person’s head. It is flat and fits like a toupee or a tam hat. It does not go down the side or the back of your head leaving lots of exposed hair, and not how it is shown on the package at all. This has nothing to do with size as I tend to have a child sized head and it even looked silly on my children. The necklace was fantastic for the costume.
Alas, despite having a couple of friends ready to jump in as Betty and Pebbles, the Wilma costume is a no-go. I’ll be looking for an alternative for the BlissDom Halloween Party.
Regardless of the costume quality, I had an excellent experience working with Wholesale Halloween Costumes. They don’t actually make the costumes of course, so it is no reflection on their great and timely service. I would order from them again, especially for kids costumes as they always wear additional clothing under theirs but for an adults costume I would take into consideration of how the costume will really fit and if in doubt, choose something else.
