By now your kiddos should have their first day of school under their belt and one of the best ways to share the excitement of a new school year is to read some fun back to school books.
Here are a couple we’ve been reading together from our favourite people at Scholastic Canada
Eddie Gets Ready for School
By David Milgrim
$9.99/ages 4-7/July 2011
This is a really cute story that follows a funny boy named Eddie as he gets ready for school. It’s filled with check lists as he reaches each step of his morning routine, even if some of his choices are pretty silly- like picking a whole watermelon for school snack! My boys laugh out loud at Eddie’s use for his underwear- a knights hat! even the dog wears it! lol
Bailey
By Harry Bliss
$18.99 hardcover/Ages 3-6/Aug 2011
Bailey isn’t your typical student, he’s a dog! But nobody seems to mind. It was a little bit hard to read a book with lots of thought/speech bubbles over characters heads but once my kids caught onto it, it was okay. Now they point to a character and say ‘what’s he saying’. This is fun school book.
Happy Birthday Hamster
By Cynthia Lord
$19.99 hardcover/Ages 2-6/Aug 2011
We all got excited to see the release of this book! We recognized our favourite hamster right away from the previous book by Cynthia Lord-Hot Rod Hamster, a family favourite! How did Happy Birthday Hamster measure up? We loved it too! The fun rhymes are easy and enjoyable for adults to read and the artwork is exciting for the kids. My boys all have birthdays within 10 days of each other so I think this will be read many times over during our ‘birthday season’. This book is a great birthday gift idea for your favourite kiddo!
” Pink cake, blue cake, chocolate through-and-through cake.
Short cake, tall cake, cannot-eat-it-all cake.
Which would you choose?”
