Spring Flowers

When we moved into our house in the Spring of 2003, our gardens were full of flowers. The previous owners, or some before that I’m guessing, because we bought this house from a divorced guy and no word of a lie, when we had our viewing there was underwear laying on the bedroom floor and condom packages out in the open. um yeah….so back to my story, where was I??

The gardens on the other hand were glorious! I am a HUGE fan of Spring flowers and we had bulbs a plenty! Tons of tulips graced our gardens and I planted even more to fill it all in. Fast forward almost 10 years later and the garden is a disgrace! Where did all my bulbs go? I have no idea! Can they just die off under there? The odd thing is everywhere I don’t want a tulip, one shows up! Like right in the middle of another plant and thanks to changing the shape of our garden the year before, on the grass! yeah, that’s awesome. *eyeroll*

Also, I have tulip leaves sprouting up all over but they never flower, just huge ugly leaves in my garden. ugh!

I always kind of envisioned cutting my tulips and sharing them with friends and loved ones, gorgeous labours of love from my garden – well okay, they are bulbs they pretty much look after themselves, but you know what I mean. But unless Grandma loves green leaves, we are going to have to settle with ordering from Interflora.

Here’s my garden back in the good old days when Big Brother was a baby, just about 5 years ago. I wont even make you suffer and look at our weed pile now, but for the record we have one giant weed in there right now that is taller than the two year old! lol

  1. I feel your pain. We bought our house from a retired couple and they assured us that they spent 15 minutes a day each to maintain the flowers and bushes that run around the entire house and garden.

We found out from neighbours after we moved in that they actually spent all.day.every.day maintaining it and that’s why they were selling.

We’re thinning it out this year in the hopes of making it more manageable for the next owners when we sell.

oh boy! I guess if you are retired and have nothing better to do, but honestly! who has time for all of that right?

  2. I hear ya about tulips popping up in places you don’t want them to! They spread! Cute photo!

  3. Oh how I wish I could get some Tulips sprouting! We have this horrid weed grass that takes over everything; it drives me nuts!
