My boys get new books for almost every occasion, Christmas, birthdays and of course the Easter Bunny comes hopping into town with a few too! Check out the latest Spring titles from Scholastic Canada for inspiration on filling your own Easter baskets!
Exclamation Mark
By Amy Krouse Rosenthal, Illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld
This is a great little book for kids learning to write. It’s a fun introduction to the use of the exclamation mark , period and question mark! It also has a lovely message about being yourself and loving who you are!
Polar Bear Morning
By Lauren Thompson, Illustrated by Stephen Savage
This is a sequel to Polar Bear Night. This is a fun book on making friends as two little polar bears tumble their way through the snow on a little adventure.
The Highway Rat
By Julia Donaldson, Illustrated by Axel Scheffler
This new book is from the author of one of our other favourite books A Gold Star for Zog, so we were already expecting good things and it did not disappoint! Axel Scheffler creates the best images for picture books! The Highway Rat is a nasty little thing, stealing food from the highway travellers – even his own horses hay! Until one day when the rat met his match and the tables were turned for good!
The Magnificent Tree
By Nick Bland, Illustrated by Stephen Michael King
We first were introduced to Nick Bland through his earlier book, The Very Hungry Bear, so we were already big fans of his work. The Magnificent Tree is a lovely story about a little girl’s imagination and creativity, only matched with her Pop’s! They are the perfect team as Bonny has simple and cleaver ideas and Pop’s are big and brave! They are quite the duo as they set out to create the ultimate invention to keep the birds from flying away!
Need a last minute idea for Easter? Any of the titles above are a great pick!

My girls love books too and we often get them books for special occasions. I hadn’t seen any of these books before but they look like lots of fun. Thanks for the preview! 🙂
Ooh! The Magnificent Tree looks cute! Is that orange hair I spy??
I love Scholastic books. They are a welcome present and Love to see the flyers in my girl’s backpacks each month. The Highway Rat looks interesting to me.
