Romantic getaways in rustic Massachusetts #XPloreMass

I think many parents would agree that traveling with your kids is not a ‘holiday’. It can be down right stressful, from hotel reservations for a family of five, to finding restaurants that my picky eaters will dine at to keeping them entertained and avoiding afternoon meltdowns, when traveling with kids in tow I usually feel like I need a vacation when I get home! We don’t have family to watch the kids for us, so the Mom vs the Boys family has to travel as pack, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dream about romantic getaways with the hubs or a super fun girls weekend sans kids!

Adults only travel means choosing restaurants that you would never bring the kids to and cozy bed and breakfasts. It means sleeping in late and doing ‘nothing’ without getting bored. It’s finding pretty little places to get lost and a good glass of wine and all of these things are sure to be found in rustic Massachusetts!

Accommodations are provided in Cape-style guest houses and cottages.

Located on Plum Island, off the coast of Newburyport, Massachusetts, blue the inn on the beach is situated in the dunes of one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. An icon of sophisticated style and impeccable service, blue is the only inn of its kind in New England — an extraordinary retreat that stands apart from traditional New England resorts. Conceived as a contemporary beachfront haven, its elegant white decor, luxurious appointments, spectacular views and secluded location create a unique and unforgettable experience that soothes the senses.

The Inn On The Horse Farm is a  rustic 1880’s retreat on nine acres, with woods, pastures, a pond and stream all surrounded by old stone walls. The last Majestic Sugar Maple tree is now 130 years old, and turns brilliant colors in the fall. Walking trails around the property have views of the horses along the way.

Pet lovers will want to stay at Restful Paws, a unique pet friendly bed and breakfast inn. Not only will your pooch be pampered with a bean bag pet bed but there is even a bone shaped pool for them to go for a splash. If you can’t bear to leave the pup behind for a quiet getaway, this is a great option for you!

From the Warfield House Inn, located in the Berkshire Hills of Western Mass, you can explore the natural beauty of New England’s mountaintop forests or its rapid rivers. Spend your days participating in some of the best fly-fishing, rafting and skiing in the Northeast. The local towns are rich in history and full of artisans, architectural wonders and antique shops. You do not have to travel far from the bed and breakfast to find recreation, relaxation and adventure.
