I’m famous for getting into cooking ruts, which is why I love that I’ve got a man who cooks on weekends! There are times when he’s much more creative than I am and we like to make different food, so it’s a good mix. The Food Network Canada’s, Michael Smith, is another man who knows his way around the kitchen and he shows you how to go ahead and mix things up and get creative in his cookbook Back to Basics: 100 Simple Classic Recipes with a Twist. Michael starts with a basic recipe for chicken or salad etc, and than shows you different ways to make it new and exciting again! Some recipes will give you a few different ways to prepare it depending on your tastes.
A Challenge
Cascade sent all the P&G Mom’s a challenge. To get inspired by one of Michael’s recipes, whip it up in the kitchen and then clean that dish with Cascade Platinum Pacs and see how it turned out. I love a good challenge, especially one involving food!! It was a tough decision on what to make though, the pan rushed chicken looked delicious, the slow baked honey mustard ribs sounded amazing, and I’ve been dying to try a something like those cracked potatoes for a while now. But when I saw the Peanut Butter Brownies, they completely blew me away and the best part was, I had all the ingredients in my pantry already!
Peanut Butter Brownies
Yes my friends, these did taste as good as they look! Better even! The smell was agonizing as warm chocolate and peanut butter baked away in my oven! I couldn’t wait to try a piece, but it was well worth the wait! I give the Peanut Butter Brownies 5 stars for it’s amazing taste, ease of making and soft chewy texture, the perfect mark of a brownie!
Okay, now for the clean up. There’s nothing sadder than an empty brownie dish right? Trust me, every last crumb was picked out of that pan, but eventually we gave up and popped it into the dishwasher along with a Cascade Platinum Pac. The little purple, green and blue pacs are fun and funky looking! It was party time in that dishwasher! The results were pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good. There was a spot on left on the right handle, but it scraped off easily with my finger nail and wasn’t too big of an issue for me.
Are you up for a challenge??? I have an Ultimate Kitchen Prize Pack for one lucky reader who loves to experiment in the kitchen! Try one of Michael’s dishes and take the challenge yourself!
$50 Prize Pack includes:
A copy of Michael’s book – Back to Basics: 100 Simple Classic Recipes with a Twist
A supply of Cascade Platinum Pacs
Dawn Platinum
Bounty Select-A-Size (8 roll pack)
