The Mombo Nursing Pillow from Comfort & Harmony

**My baby reviewer Diane had the pleasure of reviewing the Mombo nursing pillow, Please note: she received this product for free from Comfort & Harmony, however the opinions in the following review are Diane’s alone and are based on her personal experience with using the Mombo.**

Finally!! There’s a nursing pillow that can take you from mealtime to tummy time and anytime in between. I love the double-sided feature of the Mombo. The firm side is great for meal times. It provides the firm support needed for nursing, especially in the early days. In the past, I didn’t use nursing pillows for breastfeeding. I found them to be uncomfortable and awkward. They were too soft for feeding, causing issues with positioning. I only used them as a cushion when my baby got older. As a result, I am a very accomplished “no pillow breast feeder”.

When I received the Mombo, I had to learn to use a pillow for nursing all over again. I have to say… I really enjoy it. My baby is really well supported, and it’s pretty comfy. I particularly like it for the football hold – a position that I find uncomfortable without good support. The only thing I find awkward is that the opening that goes around your waist is a little small. I’m average to small, and I found it pretty snug.

That being said, I like that it is snug for when I put my baby in it for tummy time, or for somewhere cozy to lay. It’s nice that it kind of “hugs” my baby when I lay him in/on it. We’ve been using the soft cushy side for tummy time, and my little guy loves it! He hates laying flat on the floor for tummy time; he would cry and get mad. On the Mombo he’s all smiles (except for when I pull out the camera… what is it with babies and cameras?!)

It’s been great for working on his neck muscles – instead of laying his head on the floor and screaming, he actually lifts his head and follows his sister and brother around. I think he’s just much more comfortable on the pillow.

There is also a vibration option on this pillow, which is pretty cool. We tried it a few times, but for some reason my little guy just doesn’t like vibrations (hates it in his bouncy chair too). I think it’s a great option though, and my other kids would have loved it. I like that it’s an “option” – so that you have the choice of using it, or removing it.

Overall I really enjoy using the Mombo. I think it’s a great dual-purpose pillow, and I LOVE that it has different slip covers that you can purchase. You can change up the look and feel of your pillow – quite literally! They have slipcovers that are very soft and plush on one side, with the regular patterned material on the other. And the pattern! I love the choice of colours and prints they have. The slipcovers are easy to remove, and they wash great… which is good because it’s inevitable that your baby is going to spit up on it.

I think that the Mombo would be especially good for first time breastfeeding mom’s as they learn the mechanics of breast-feeding. The support the pillow provides for your baby helps to free up your arms a little as you learn the positions and work on latching. As your baby grows you’ll find you’ll use it less for breast-feeding, and more for lounging and playtime.

It’s great to have a pillow that can grow with you and your baby!

You can check out the Mombo on the Comfort and Harmony website  and don’t forget to check out the patterns (did I mention I love their patterns?!)

Happy Nursing!

Comments

  1. What? They vibrate too now? That’s awesome. Looks like a good product and a happy baby too.

  2. My one twin would love the vibration feature. What a great nursing pillow. I’ll have to check it out for sure as I am exclusively breast feeding the twins.

  3. That is the coolest pillow! I love the vibration.

  4. Our girls didn’t like the vibrate settings on things either. I can’t believe how far nursing accessories have come since I had babies!

  5. It vibrates? Awesome. I have two different nursing pillows on hand for baby #4 when she comes in February. I love using nursing pillows and use them all the time at home especially. Well until they are really big anyways. I’ve never tried this brand though.

  6. I love products that do double-duty and this one seems very cool… love that it vibrates and, being the stylish mama that I am, that you can purchase different covers for it. I love the taggies covers on their website… so great for developing fine motor skills when baby gets a bit bigger. 🙂
