all access pass

This Summer kids and adults alike are rocking out at the new Science of Rock ‘N’ Roll exhibit on level 6 of the Ontario Science Centre!

Have you ever wondered about the science behind rock ‘n’ roll? How has technology shaped this multi-billion dollar industry? How can performers bring hundreds of thousands of screaming fans to their feet? What physiological effects does rock have on the listener? The Science of Rock ‘N’ Roll  is an interactive exhibition that provides a fresh look at the history of rock from the perspective of science and technology. See how music has shaped the tools of rock – and how those tools have changed the music.

The interactive hands on exhibit was a ton of fun! Neither my husband nor I have a musical background, so it was really fun for the whole family to get our hands on pianos, guitars and especially the drums! The boys were ready to start their own boy band! The five of us piled into the recording booths and took turns on the mic singing a little “Old time Rock ‘n’ Roll”

Check out this video below for more information on the Science of Rock

The Science of Rock ‘N’ Roll exhibit is on until October 26th and is free with admission. Add an All Access Backstage Pass for only $2.00 to video record and share your experiences.

New IMAX® Film: Island of Lemurs: Madagascar

Lemurs are funny little creatures, that up until our visit to the Ontario Science Centre, we didn’t know a whole lot about. The whole family was treated to an interesting and educational film on a screen 4,500 times bigger than an average TV screen with a whopping 44 speakers!

Take a spectacular journey to the remote and wondrous world of Madagascar and witness the incredible true story of one of nature’s greatest explorers – the lemurs.

Lemurs arrived in Madagascar as castaways millions of years ago and evolved into hundreds of diverse species. They are now highly endangered. Join trailblazing scientist Dr. Patricia Wright on her lifelong mission to help these strange and adorable creatures survive in the modern world.

This was the boys first IMAX film and they really enjoyed it, we learned a lot about the preserverance of the lemurs and how human actions effect the planet and wildlife. We are looking forward to future visits and IMAX films.

You can buy tickets to see IMAX films separatley or in addition to general admittance to the Ontario Science Centre

  1. I love how the Ontario Science Centre is making learning a fun experience. Not just for the kids, but for the adults too!

  2. Margarita Ibbott (@DownshiftingPRO) says

Ever since the Kratt brothers show, I have loved Lemurs. Thanks for the review of the Science Centre it is a favourite destination with my son. We try to go at twice a year.

  3. I have attended both of these events and I must say they are AWESOME! I love how you can buy a backstage pass for the Rock exhibit and record your adventures to relive later! The lemur video was also a huge hit with my kids. Like Margarita my kids are obsessed with the KRATT brothers so they loved seeing them in action

  4. We meant to get to the Science Center this summer, but, alas we are running out of time. I know the kids would love to visit.

  5. That’d be totally awesome for a kid who’s into rock n roll! Looks like so much fun. 🙂 We’ve been wanting to see the Madagascar movie but haven’t made it yet – my youngest won’t sit through movies right now, so we might have to make it a daughter/daddy date or something like that. 🙂 THanks for sharing!
