As parents, we have an innate desier to help children in need – this is an easy way to do it #cleanwater
— Jason Priestley (@Jason_Priestley) February 26, 2015
How true this statement is. I’ve always been sensitive to the needs of others, especially children who went without, but it hit me on a whole other level after I became a parent. Now not only do I feel empathy for those children, but I have something I could relate to as a mother. I now understand the impact on the entire family and the level of love and pain a mother feels for her child. As parents, we truly do have that innate desire to help the children of the world in need, and thanks to the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, we can!
Safe drinking water is a problem for more than one billion people. Many are women and children in the developing world who must walk 6km a day to collect water that is often contaminated for their families. Recently, Jason Priestley has a chance to visit the Dominican Republic to see how the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program is making an impact on the lives of the children and families.
Take a look:

Contaminated water not only tastes bad but it causes diseases that are killing more children than HIV Aids and Malaria combined — nearly 1,600 children every day.
Last week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jason Priestley over lunch to discuss the program and it was evident how passionate he was about his partnership with the Children’s Safe Drinking Water initiative. Maybe you had the chance to join in and tweet with him during the #cleanwater twitter party as well! I was able to see one of the purification packages in action and I was blown away how one tiny package could transform brown, filthy water into something clear and completely safe to drink! It was magical!
The goal from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015 is to provide 25 million days of clean drinking water for people who desperately need it
Here’s how it works
P&G water purification packets have purified more than 7 billion liters of water and provided more than 21 million days of clean water already!
To help reach the goal by the end of March, all you have to do is simply buy your favourite P&G products such as Bounty, Tide, Pampers, Cascade, Swiffer, Always, Duracell, Crest etc at Walmart Canada either instore or online (free shipping!) and P&G will donate 1 day of clean drinking water to the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Fund for each product purchased.
Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities. The opinions on this blog are my own.
What a great cause! I love the photo of you and Jason. I’m so jealous! 🙂
Thanks Cheryl, it was so fun to meet him and hear all about the program first hand
It is amazing how such a small thing can help so many people. So many of us take clean water for granted.
This makes me smile. So many times we see famous people being ridiculous and spending their times in the tabloids instead of doing good. The fact he is taking time and helping spread the word shows just what type of man he is:)
We use PG products already but maybe it is time to stock up on a couple things to help support such a great cause:)
PS He is very yummy…umm I mean handsome;)
haha Tiffany! He’s still very handsome, but also down to earth and passionate about the cause!
Wow! Those packs are pure magic.
This is so amazing, clean drinking water shouldn’t be a “luxury”.
PS – I’m jealous you got to meet Brandon.
haha Brandon! lol you are right about the ‘luxury’ of clean drinking water, it should available to everyone!
What a great campaign. I have to admit I was a bit star struck when I saw all the selfies with Jason Priestly… IT WAS JASON PRIESTLY for goodness sakes. So cool.
lol it was a lot of fun to meet him in person!
It’s so great to see campaigns like this going on! What a fun experience for you, and what a cool project to be a part of!
Such an amazingly important program!! I’m so happy that I’m participating just by purchasing my favorite P&G products.
What a great campaign. I like when brands support children and families in need
What a wonderful cause!
A good cause and Jason is obviously a good person.
This is a great campaign! Love P&G
