Books for Star Wars The Force Awakens Fans

My boys have been Star Wars fans for a long time. There dad has been a fan since he was a little boy so it was only a matter of time before he introduced his boys to the series he loved so much. Like most of their interests, if I can find a book on it, I’ll get it for them because boys sometimes need that extra push to get excited about reading. Luckily, DK Canada has been a great resource for us and I can always count on them to have the kind of books my boys are going to love.

With a bookshelf collection full of prized DK books about LEGO, super heros and of course Star Wars, the one topic that was missing was information on the newest movie; Star Wars the Force Awakens. With March Break about to happen, I knew this was a great time to update our collection with some fresh content. DK Canada did not disappoint – for the record, they never do.

Star Wars the Force Awakens books

This is a selection of books all based on the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. I love that DK Canada makes a range of books for every age level, including adults!

Star Wars The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections

This is an impressive hard cover book that big boys and adults alike will enjoy. My nine year old (and his dad) love to check out the cross sections of all the machines. Twelve breathtaking artworks bring the new craft to life, showing all of the weapons, engines, and technology, while engaging text explains each vehicle’s backstory and key features. You get a good look at the coolest ships like Rey’s Speeder, Tie Fighters, Quadjumper, the Resistance Transport, Snow Speeder, the popular Millennium Falcon and the book even has a large fold out mid section to feature the Finalizer, used by General Hux and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars the Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary

Another sturdy hardcover, this is the definitive guide to the characters, droids, aliens, and creatures of Star Wars: The Force Awakens™. It includes beautiful photography and clear, authoritative text by Lucasfilm insider Pablo Hidalgo as he names and explains all the details of costumes, weapons, and accessories. Included is three exclusive, specially commissioned cutaway models produced by Industrial Light & Magic model maker John Goodson. In The Visual Dictionary we learn more about some of our new favourite characters like BB-8, Poe, Finn, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and my new girl hero Rey.

Star Wars The Force Awakens: Ultimate Sticker Collection

For younger children who love the movies, but aren’t ready for lots of text, the Ultimate Sticker Collection is a great way for them to interact with their favourite movie characters at an age appropriate level. This is way more than just sticker book, it has informative pages that have kids hunting for specific stickers but also includes scenes where kids can their own page using their own imagination. The books features more than 1,000 stickers of new characters, creatures, aliens, droids, and ships and the stickers can be used again and again.

Star Wars The Force Awakens: Reader Level 1 New Adventures

Part of DK’s long established reading program, this reader is a Level 1, designed for those beginning to read. Combining clear, simple text with eye-catching images from The Force Awakens™, this book will help young readers learn to love reading. It’s my personal opinion that new readers will need some help reading their way through this one, but it will also be loved by seasoned readers as well. I like that the book includes a short quiz and a parents guide in the back.

DK Canada’s motto is “Learn to Read, then Read to Learn” and it’s truly the foundation of their company. Their books not only help children learn to read, but they create an interest and passion that make children want to read for years to come.

Drop by your local bookstore to see if you can spot some DK favourites to take home or go online at www.dk.com/ca to find more great titles.
