Ready to get out in the sun? Find the perfect vacation for your family:

If your family loves to lounge in the sun…
Beach vacations provide relaxation and all the swimming and sandcastles your water babies can handle. Try a beachside hotel in the Caribbean or find a reasonably priced home share in sunny Florida. Not ready for the hassle of border crossing? You might be surprised to learn that Canada is full of outstanding beaches- perfect for weekend trips.

If your family loves shopping, culture and cuisine…
Plan a trip to a big city where you and your family can hit the shops all day and dine on amazing cuisine by night. Cities are also full of museums and other cultural activities. You don’t have to go far to feel like you’re on vacation – check out Quebec City or Boston. If you happen to live in a big city already, try acting like tourists for the day!

If your family wants maximum vacation with minimum stress…
A cruise or resort vacation means everyone is taken care of with pre-planned activities and dining options built-in. Often there is even a child-care option for younger kids, which means their days are packed with fun activities, while you get some well-deserved couple time.

If your family loves the great outdoors…
There are so many options for families who love the feeling of roughing it. If your kids are TV lovers or social media fanatics, camping is a great way to mandate some quality family time. Not ready to be completely off the grid? Renting a cottage makes you feel like you’re out in the bush without sacrificing hot showers and a working stove.

If your family loves spontaneous trips with lots of freedom…
Road trips let you change the itinerary at the drop of a hat. Feel like hitting a waterpark on the way to your next stop? Why not?! Just make sure to plan plenty of stops to avoid the dreaded “are we there yet?” from the backseat.

  1. A stress free localish family travel experience would be good for us

  2. We just got back from Ottawa for a mini vacation with the kids and are heading out to Great Wolf Lodge soon for a night. No big trips planned, but a few small trips are going to make an awesome summer for us!

  3. Well I am a cruise fangirl that’s for sure. We have always found good deals and great value cruising. I think there are as many options as there are families but summer vacation is such a great time to reconnect. It’s really a good chance to take a vacation of any sort and there are so many options. We are heading to Quebec soon for a summer vacation together. I have been writing about Martin County Florida because I just did a travel media fam there and I can tell you it’s a great spot to kick back and relax or even to learn to surf!!

I would love to try a cruise just to see what it’s like, it doesn’t look like my cup of tea with tiny rooms, planned meal times and crowded decks, but I love the idea of waking up in a new spot every day!

  4. Yay for summer vacations! I love them all! So many fantastic ways to celebrate family and get outside in the summertime. Great tips. We are camping and hopefully going to PEI this summer!

  5. We love summer vacation and it doesn’t have to be half way around the world. Great post, and I do love Bayer, it’s been a brand that was passed down from my Great Grandma. That’s a good brand!!

  9. Elizabeth Matthiesen says:

I love summer vacations and travel, this summer I spent about 6 weeks in 4 different countries in Europe visiting about 13 different friends and family members. It was a bit exhausting since I only spent 3 days with each the rest was driving or on a train slogging a heavy suitcase up and down stairs at the stations!. I’m glad I did it though as who knows if I’ll be capable of doing it next year or the year after! Still have a few more friends to visit so maybe I will go again in a couple of years. 🙂
