Parc Omega, located in the beautiful Outaouais region of Quebec, is a total gem for getting up close and personal with some of Canada’s favourite animals!
We received complimentary passes for Parc Omega, however, all opinions expressed are my own.
This summer we took the boys on a week long road trip to Ottawa and Quebec. After three days in the nation’s capitol learning all about our parliament, eating beaver tails and exploring museums, we started to make our way to Quebec. First stop, Parc Omega!
Parc Omega, located approximately 1 hour from Montreal, Ottawa, Laurentian and Tremblant, lets you discover the wildlife of Canada all within their natural environment.
The safari park setting is absolutely gorgeous and allows some of the animals to roam about at their will, while the humans are secured in their vehicles which was a unique twist!
If our visit to Parc Omega had a soundtrack it would be a mix of animal noises and squeals of laughter!
At the front gate you have the option to purchase bags of carrots for the deer and elk. As part of our gifted experience, the park staff generously gave each member of our family a bag of their own, 5 in total! We thought this was probably way to many, but the staff knew better than us, feeding the animals is by far the highlight of the trip and we definitely used every last carrot we had! Those animals are hungry and happy to see you arrive with carrots in tow!!
The deer and elk will walk right up to your vehicle window and sniff around for a treat! We absolutely had a blast as they pushed their large noses and sometimes their whole head through our van windows to hunt down a snack!
Because it was late August and mating season was just about to start, we were asked not to feed the male elk. Despite their insistence as they stood in the middle of the roadway, we rolled up our windows and slowly passed by these big guys.
Animals of Parc Omega
Besides the deer and elk you’ll also discover moose, bison, wolves, bears, coyotes, wild boars, mountain goats, reindeer, and a family favourite, arctic fox. Plus so much more!
Some animals that roam freely up and down the roads you travel on are the boars and bison, though you aren’t to feed them carrots. The other animals are enclosed but you’ll have an excellent view of them as they are still very close by and are quite curious of you as well.
You’ll be able to learn all about the wolves on site at the Wolf Presentation as well as a very informative Birds of Prey Show that should not be missed.
Other Activities at Parc Omega
Plan your visit to have a long car break once you reach the Land of the Pioneers area. This is where you’ll find the picnic area and animal presentations mentioned above, but there’s still more to do here.
Grab a snack at the Cookerie or Ice Cream Shop.
Visit the Old Farm.
Buy a souvenir.
Check out the Enchanted House and Suspended Bridge and Playground (60 feet long 3D wooden sculpture)
Be sure to check out all the carved sculptures!
Also in the park you can visit the First Nations Trail which is an absolutely gorgeous area to get out of your car and explore. The deer wander freely here and are not shy, they will walk right up to you if you offer them a carrot and eat it out of your hand.
Attend a Canoe Building Workshop.
Marvel at all the amazing wood carvings and structures throughout the grounds.

While planning your trip to Parc Omega, considering popping over to Ottawa to visit the Canada Science and Technology Museum!
I have never been to this zoo/park, didn’t know there was so much to see. Will have to add to our places to visit with our grandson. He will love it here.
Sounds like a great park to visit and the feeding the animals sounds like fun too. There’s a lot to see and do there it seems, what a shame it’s such a long way away from the Prairies.
This place looks magical! How much fun are those animals?! My grandkids would love to go
I could just hear the kids getting excited,so much to see and do !
