First of all a little Valentine’s love shout out to all of you- my followers! I see your little faces there on the right every single day and I’m so glad you visit, comment and follow my blog! I appreciate the support and knowing the time it takes to do the ‘blog circuit’ every day I appreciate that you take the time to pop over to my world and check in on lil’ ole’ me! Thank you!
Normally a Valentine’s Day at our house would consist of Hubby going to work and coming home to a really nice meal cooked by me and served in our dining room (which we only use for special occasions). I usually make something new that we have never had before and some of our very favourite recipes have started this way. But, this year is a weekend, a long weekend here in Canada at that, and we are actually having visitors! My parents will be coming for part of the weekend.
For the boys, we started our Valentine activities a little early so we could take some to the Grandparents when we visited last and also to get in the mail for their ‘Aussie Uncle’.
Grandma loved her Valentine Suncatcher and it hangs nicely in her hospital window, hopefully cheering her up on her bad days.
We did some heart shaped paintings and some Valentine colouring sheets over the weeks before Valentine’s day. We read ‘The night before Valentine’s Day’ which was a really fun book, and watched Handy Many’s Valentine show. I have Charlie Brown’s Valentine episode ready to watch on Sunday.
I’ll be the first to admit that unless it’s Christmas, not much decorating goes on around here! I want to get better at that though. The only Valentine decorating I do here is with their artwork and window clings. We have window clings in the kitchen windows, on the fridge and on the microwave. But the boy’s favourite is their bathroom mirror, they get excited over the Valentine fish that go there
We have been nibbling on cinnamon hearts, who else puts these in their hot chocolate?? mmmm….I love to pop a few in there! The boys are getting some little chocolate treats on the day of and some fun heart straws. We finally found the Pillsbury cookies this year, they come out for just about every holiday, but they are so hard to find! We made these Wednesday and they are quite tasty!
Thanks to Shelley from Shelley’s Swag, for reminding me about free E-Cards. We used to send a lot of these years ago, but kind of just forgot about them along the way. When Shelley mentioned it on her blog I knew it was perfect to send to the Aussie Uncle even though we already mailed him his card and picture of the boys and also, my Mother in Law who is in the hospital will also be getting one of these, since she has a laptop there with her. Thanks again Shelley!
Here’s my Sweet Little Valentines lovin’ eachother up right here!
