Buddha Board Review

ZEN
THE PAST IS OVER.
THE FUTURE MAY NEVER BE.
THE PRESENT IS ALL THAT EXITS.
LIVE EACH MOMENT TO THE FULLEST.

The Buddha Board is based on this Zen philosophy. To let go of the past, live in the moment and not worry about what may or may not come. Using the soothing aspects of water, you simply stroke the bamboo brush over the surface and watch as the image grows darker and then slowly fades away. Only the present exists.

I found the Buddha Board to be both relaxing and entertaining. Is that possible? You bet! The brush makes such smooth and whimsical strokes across the board, it is creative and magical to watch as the lines darken and then become lighter and lighter until you can no longer see them. I’m no artist, so it was freeing to just let go and create whatever came to my mind and know that in a few minutes it would evaporate and be gone – no evidence left behind.

Everyone in the family from ages 2-34 enjoyed this board. It’s so rare to find a good quality, quiet (yes, I said quiet!) activity for the boys to do. We use this  board on rainy days and out on the deck in the nice warm sun. The soft breeze helps hurry along the dry time of the previous picture and we all find it peaceful to work the board outside in a natural environment.

The Buddha Board comes in 3 different styles.

The original board comes with a Japanese style water holder/stand that the board sits on top of. I like this design because it looks really artsy.

The Laptop Board is a portable version or the original. The board stays inside the laptop lid and the case itself fold to become the stand. The brush and water sit in a small tray at the bottom edge.
This laptop version comes in 6 colour choices
This is the style I chose because I loved how it can be all packed up and we could easily take it on our travels and store it all together. I love the simple and stylish back colour. The colour of the case indicates the colour the water will appear in. Both of these first two designs comes with a bamboo style brush.

The Third option is a Mini Buddha Board or Gift Card. It’s a 5 inch square card with the magic Buddha Board surface and like the laptop, folds backwards to become it’s own easel stand. Write your message on a piece of Japanese style paper and choose from 12 occasion stickers to decorate it with.

We were given an extra Buddha Board and brought this one along to Little Buddy’s First Birthday Party. We set up our own so all the party goers could try it out and at the end of the party we drew a name so one of our guests could take their very own Buddha Board home! Big Brother’s best bud won and we hope he gives his mommy loads of quiet time with his new board!
