I’m the worst at decorating, I see things on tv or in magazines and I love it, but when it comes to my own house I have no idea what goes with what, or even what I want. I know what I like and don’t like ( I think..) but I just can’t seem to put it all together!
When we finally finished renovated the basement at the beginning of the year we designated an area for the kids play space. We haven’t done much with it since because what we really need is the Hubster to build us shelves and cabinets to put all the toys in and keep us organized. I know that isn’t going to happen any time soon because it’s on the bottom of a very long to-do list, but in the meantime I have been perusing the web for some ideas on the space and have seen some really interesting kid furniture out there!

I love that this is quirky and fun but is still good furniture because it isn’t ‘kid furniture’. It would be great for storing puzzles and toys. I found this at Overstock.com with the Armoires.

Big Brother is on a total Pirate kick right now, He is sooo funny! He walks around the house with empty paper towel tubes on his hand (a hook? a wooden arm?) and says ‘argh! I’m a pirate’ or even better ‘I’m a scurvy pirate’ lol too funny! The other day he starts walking with one leg stuck right out and says ‘Dad, look at me, I’m a peg leg!’ lol Oh man, it makes me laugh out loud just remembering! He would really love this chair!

Love,Love, Love these airplane lights! So great! You don’t often see really classic but fun boy stuff, but I really like these lights. Not sure how much light they would really put out though. (They are both from K.I.D.S)

Perfect to hold books and toys. I can just see little baskets of dinky cars in there. A great piece that can hold a lot.
Construction is always a fun and easy theme for boys and I thought this table set was pretty cute. I like that it has 4 chairs too. I always see table sets that come with only 2 chairs, and well, I have 3 boys so that doesn’t go over well. (From K.I.D.S.)
I love Home Lighting, it is my favourite part of a room to decorate. This funky little light doesn’t scream ‘kid’ and I like that. It’s still really fun though. (overstock.com)
See this funky circle Area Rug? I can totally see it under a little set of table and chairs. I like it because it’s a fun design that will camouflage any mess the kids make!
So anyways, I still have an empty room aside from a chalkboard hanging on the wall, but my little cybershopping trip has opened my eyes to a whole world of furniture. I think I just need to look outside the box and find things that aren’t necessarily marketed to kids. Internet shopping can be tricky and while some stores ship to Canada, like Overstock.com, they don’t usually ship big things like this and if they did the shipping would probably cost a fortune anyway.
